Keep the Halloween Costumes and Candy at Home!

At Buffett, students do not wear or bring costumes to school. Save them for home, please! Also, make sure to keep all of your candy at home, too. Enjoy your time and stay safe this weekend!

Buffett Sports: Skill Development

Seventh and Eighth Grade Students!

If you are interested in participating in boys basketball skills development or girls volleyball skills development, stop by to pick up a packet in the main office. The first 24 who get their paperwork in can sign up for a once-a-week skills development after school. Coaches will work with you on honing and practicing your skills to get you ready for next year’s tryouts at Buffett and high schools. Skills development will begin the week of November 16 and end December 10. Students who receive transportation will be eligible to ride the late bus home. Space is limited, so stop by the main office today after block 1/2 to pick up your information packet.

Help Buffett Raise Money with the PTO Fundraiser!

We need your help! We are raising money to refinish the track and landscaping at Buffett. With the help of Buffett's PTO, we hope to meet our goal. PTO is getting ready to kick off a fun and easy fundraiser! All students will receive information about the fundraiser next week. The official kick off is Wednesday, October 21st. Here's the kickoff video in case you missed it!

Student Pictures

Scholastic will be at Buffett to take student pictures in a couple of weeks. Picture order forms were sent home with the beginning of the school year paperwork. If you need another order form, click here. You can also order online at www.scholasticphotography.com. Pre-order password is "Bobcats".


A-K students will take their pictures on Monday, October 26th.

L-Z students will take their pictures on Friday, October 30th.

**Fully Remote students can come on either day for their pictures anytime from 7:40 AM-2:40 PM.

Fall MAP Testing is Coming Soon!

MAP Testing Highlights

Key Points:

  • Fully remote students will not be assessed.
  • We will follow an alternate bell schedule Nov. 9-12.

  • Nov. 13 we will follow a normal bell schedule.

  • Lunch time, Nov. 9-12, will be at the same time as it always is for your student.

  • Remote students will take part in Digital Citizenship Lessons while in-person students are taking the assessments. These lessons may be with a different teacher than their block 1-2 teachers, so watch emails for Teams meeting invites.

  • Students will be assigned some asynchronous work during the block of time students are taking assessments at school. They may not be with a teacher the whole block (7:40-10:00).

  • At 10:04, students will move through their day following the order of their classes and the adjusted bell schedule.

New Counseling Information!

Starting during the 2020-2021 school year, all OPS Middle School and High School students in grades 6-12 will participate in personalized weekly lessons from their School Counselors. Lessons will improve students' competency in social-emotional learning, academics, career, and post-secondary education. Students will increase their knowledge, reflect on their discoveries, and gain insights. These lessons can be completed virtually or at school with the support of advisement teachers, classroom instructors, or school counselors. At the end of high school, every student will have a Student Readiness Report that will help them as they move to their next step beyond high school. New Faces of Bobcat Nation

Ms. Richards is a newly Nebraska resident, having moved from Iowa to teach a Buffett. She graduated from Iowa State with a degree in education with an emphasis in math, reading and technology. In her spare time, she loves to travel. North India is her favorite place that she has ever been and she spent five weeks there. Ask her about it sometime!! Ms. Richards says Buffett truly feels like home and she loves every single person that she gets to work with day in and day out. Welcome to Buffett, Ms. McKim-Richards!
