First Grade AIM
Ancient China
This week in AIM...
Today we got right down to work and wrapped up our STEM challenge from last AIM day. Students were challenged to design and build a tent that provided an ice cube with the best protection and prevented it from melting the least. We used a triple beam scale to weigh each ice cube before it went inside their tent and then waited 30 minutes before draining the water and weighing them again. I loved the conversations amongst group members about what they would have done differently etc., We also began writing our first newspaper story based on our knowledge of the geography in China. As reporters we discussed what makes up a great headline and what kind of details we will need in our stories. I think their favorite part was taking part in the photo shoot which will go along with their stories…
