Mrs. Eliason's Media Center!
Do you CODE???
Students in Mrs. Eliason's Media Class spent the month of December participating in Hour of Code. According to the website www.code.org, "the Hour of Code Started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify 'code', to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science."
Students in all grades used their accounts on the website to play games using characters from Minecraft, Angry Birds, and Star Wars to learn the basics of coding. Fourth and fifth graders also learned to design their own dance move codes to accompany popular songs.
In January, students have taken their coding knowledge and applied it to robotics. Students in Kindergarten and first grade are using markers to code Ozobots, a line-following robot. Students and grades two and up are using Lego WeDo 2.0 robotics kits to build and code moving robots made out of Legos.
