Forest
Katelynn Burleson
Location
The Forest is located between the polar regions and the tropics. Also can be found in the eastern half of North America, and the middle of Europe. Most of them are located in the eastern part of the United States, Canada, Europe, China, Japan, and some parts of Russia.
General Characteristics
Because of its location, air masses from both the cold polar region and the warm tropical region make the climates change. Summers are mild , and average about 70 degrees while winter temperatures are often well below freezing.
Weather
The biome has four different seasons winter, spring, summer, and fall. Desiduous forests also have a wet environment. Seasons happen because of the tilt of the Earth's axis. Some times it does rain.
Precipitation
Precipitation is 30-60 inches. Falls throughout the year, but winter it falls as show. The average temperature is 50 degrees.
More Information
The non-growing season is due to temperature-induced drought in the cold winters.
Mountains
The Forests does not have any mountains. Mountains are were animals live to and some are breaking down and some are being broken down.
Bodies of Water
The Forest does not have any bodies of water. The animals have to drink from rain or from the ground. Plants get there water from the rain and the ground.
Canyons
The Forest does not have any Canyons for animals to live in. Canyons are kind of like mountains and they have none of those too.
Islands
They are not on Islands. They are on Continents were people live. There being cut down all over the place. We're they are in the world.
More Information
You now why there not any of these things is because people are taking over the world. They are cutting things down like trees and tearing things down like Canyons and Mountains.
Animals
The Bald Eagle, Black Bears, Raccoons, Squirrels, Skunks, and Wood Mice. Other animals like elk and basin has been hunted nearly to extinction. This are the animals that are most common in the Forest. This animals live here because there is the right temperature changes and the right plants and animals to eat.
Plants
Broadleaf, deciduous trees, such as maple, oak, hickory, and beech, and evergreens, such as hemlock, spruce, and fir. This are the plants that are most common in the Forest.
More Information
People have been hunting animals for years and some are about to be extinct. Scientist have been studing land features for thousands of years to find animals that have died and people have killed.
Catastrophic Events
People are living in my area and they are tearing down the trees in the Forest. They are taking animals houses and making them into paper and other stuff.
Human Impact
The humans have cut down trees. That is homes for animals. Humans have started fires and destroyed the Forest were animals live.
