President's Message:
MCES PTA is officially underway! The first Board and General PTA meetings were
held on July 21. I was happy to have a good turnout.. In years past, General PTA
meetings were held every month. After much discussion, we have decided to hold
our General PTA meetings every other month. We know how busy and hectic our
schedules can be and hope this will allow you a chance to attend our MCES PTA
meetings.
The revised schedule is:
September 15th, November 17th, January 19th, March 15th and May 16th. All meetings will be from 7-8pm in the Media Center.
List of 5 reasons to attend a MCES PTA meeting:
1. Connect with other parents.
2. Be the first to know about important news and events at MCES.
3. Have a voice in activities and programs the MCES PTA supports
4. Learn how students and teachers at MCES benefit from the work of PTA.
5. Volunteer your time to a make difference in the school community.
Hope to see you all at our next meeting in September!
Heather Lynch
PTA Positions 2015-2016:
The PTA needs your help! The following positions are open:
Hospitality Chair:
Hospitality Chair Needed - Great position for 2 or more to share!!
Hospitality teacher appreciation luncheons: These 8 luncheons occur on early release days from 11:45am-1:00pm. Each luncheon has a different theme and we use a Sign Up Genius website to assign different luncheon items - from paper goods to drinks, or casseroles to delicious desserts. Store bought items or home made items are accepted. It is a great way to show our teachers how much we appreciate their hard work with our kids!
This person will be responsible for organizing these luncheons and creating sign up lists for donations, in addition to setting up and cleaning up for the luncheon. If you are interested in helping but do not think you could take this on full time please email me. Ideally, I would love to find 2-3 people that would share this position so as to not interfere with track-out schedules.
Please contact Sharon Brown, mcessocialprograms@gmail.com for more information.
Food Drive Chair Needed:
The food drive occurs in October/November. It occurs over a two-week period so that all our tracks can participate. Each day, a different type of food or personal hygiene item is collected and stored in our principal's office! We try to fill up the office with donations! All items are donated, on behalf of our school, to the Eastern and Central North Carolina Food Bank.
The chair for this person would organize the food drive. The current person has begun the process and has all documents to pass down so the transition will be easy. If interested in doing this wonderful philanthropy event for our school, please email Sharon Brown, mcessocialprograms@gmail.com
Tea and Tissues, Track 4 Kindergarten Parents.
The PTA will be hosting a special event for Kindergarten parents on Monday, August 3rd for Track 4. Parents will enjoy a light breakfast in the Media Center and have the opportunity to meet new parents and learn about MCES and the PTA. Please sign up for an item you can donate to help us make this event a success!
Membership:
CONGRATS and THANK YOU to the first 125 Middle Creek families & staff to join the PTA for the 2015-16 school year! Membership forms were sent home in Tuesday folders last week. If you misplaced your form, you can print a new one here: http://middlecreekpta.weebly.com/join-the-pta.html. Completed membership forms along with dues ($7 for single and $10 for double membership) can be returned to your child's teacher or dropped off in the front office.
Go Play Save:
The 2015-16 Go Play Save coupon book fundraiser began on Tuesday, 7/21 for Tracks 1, 2 and 3. This is a great fundraiser for MCES as 50% of the book sales are returned to the school. Coupon books will be sent home with your child along with selling instructions and a collection envelope. This year we have two book options - the traditional paper book or a mobile version! As an added bonus, purchasers will also be able to order and pay for books online.
Volunteers Needed for the School Store:
Tuesdays: K-2 kids welcome from 8:00-8:25am
Thursdays: 3-5 kids welcome from 8:00-8:25am
The school store sells little pencils, erasers, fun little school items for kids to purchase - prices range from $0.10 - $2.00, so kids can easily afford to buy something even with a little bit of pocket change. It is located at the end of the main hallway, adjacent to the 2nd grade hallway. Please contact Stephanie Petty, stephaniepettyrn@yahoo.com
