World War 1
How did the US enter the war?
First the Germans sunk the Lusitania with american passengers. Then the Germans told Mexico that if they joined them in the war than after the war they would help take back the land that the US took from them in the americain mexicain wars including Texas
Important People
Woodrow Wilson
Woodrow Wilson was the president of the US at the time that WW1 happened. He was the one who after the sinking of passenger ship Lusitania and the threat to loose Texas.
Sides of WW1
The Allies were- France, Britain, Russia, Italy , the United States, Romania, Greece, Serbia and Japan,
The Central powers were- Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey and Bulgaria.
Why was texas important in the war?
Texas had four key air force bases located in Fort Worth, Waco, Houston and San Antonio that were used for training soldiers.
Lusitania
This is the ship that the gemas sunk that was one of the reasons that the US entered the war.

This was a poster that was introduced in 1916 that was telling US citizens to join the army.

How did the war end?
In 1918 Germany surrendered and all of the nation agreed to stop fighting. They made it legal by signing the treaty of Versailles

Herbert Hoover was the president of the United States at the time that the great depression hit. He would say that it would be over soon but he never really got involved.
How the Depretion Started
The Dust Bowl
Lots of farmer over cultivated their land and when a drought hit their land dried and their crops died. With all of this dried dirt the wind stirred it up and it became a dust storm. This destroyed many houses, cars and other building.
Farmers and Miners
The great depression affected many farmers and miners. It affected the farmers because the dust bowl destroyed almost all of the things that they had. It affected miners because they drilled so much oil that the price went down by a lot and they had to find secondary jobs or they would go broke.
Franklin D. Roosevelt's plan
FDR's plan to get the US out of the depression was to make lots of government projects that would pay the workers with government money in hope to gets lots of people back on there feet.
How his plan affected Texas
Lots of these government projects that he made were located in Texas. He had people working on state parks includind caddo lake and Palo Duro Canyon state Parks.
World War Two
Winson Churchill
Winston Churchill was also know not only in WW1 but in WW2 when he was the prime minister of Great Britain. He helped hold his country together through out the natiz bombings.
Adof Hitler
Adolf Hitler was the main man who started WW2. With his Natzi army he started taking over lots of Europe.
D-Day
This is a picture of D-Day. The day that the allies invaded france through the beaches.

How did Texas contribute
First off more of Texas's citizens percent joined the war than any other state. Also the 36th division nicknamed the Texas Division Was one of the first american divisions to enter the war. There were also many military camps in Texas
Change of Texas's Homefront
In Texas lots of the US's troops were trained here. Also there were lots of Texas woman who served in the war. They would help assemble planes or mix gunpowder.
How the War Ended
Firs of on May 8, 1945 germany surrendered leading to VE day or Victory in Europe. Then on August 15, 1945 Japan surrendered after having two nuclear bombs dropped on two of its cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
