2nd Annual Student Video Showcase

On Friday, October 11, 2019 MES gathered in the auditorium for our 2nd Annual Student Video Showcase. Guest judges Dr. Kelli Trenga (former grade 3 teacher at MES) and Mr. Tyler Cauvel (biology teacher at Franklin Area High School and our favorite skater at The Rink) had a hard time choosing the grand prize winner because they were all so good!

For the second year in a row, 4th grade takes the grand prize of BEST VIDEO ENTRY in our showcase! Great work, 4th grade! Looking forward to our Principal Pizza Party to celebrate!

Parent Conference Sign Ups

Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Friday, October 25, 2019 from 7:35am-3:00pm. Each teacher at MES has an online sign up for you to schedule a time to come in and chat with him or her about your child's progress. Please click the link below to find your child's teacher. If you have any trouble scheduling online, please call the MES main office at (814)337-1659 between 7:30am-3:30pm and we will be happy to help you!



Come out and support MES's PTO on Friday, October 18 from 6:00-8:00pm for our annual BOO BASH! Bring your kids trick or treating in our back parking lot and check out the Scholastic Book Fair. It's always a howlin' good time!

Veterans Day Assembly

Maplewood staff and students would like to recognize our families and extended families for serving our great nation. The sacrifice and willingness to protect and honor each of us is one of great courage and valor. We would like to invite our Veterans and Active Duty Military Personnel to come and enjoy an assembly free of charge with our students on November 11, 2019 beginning at 9:30am at Maplewood Elementary School with light refreshments provided afterward by Maplewood Elementary’s PTO.

Science Story Time!

Once a month, you're invited to bring your preschooler to Penn State Behrend for story reading, interactive activities, and "out-of-this-world" fun!

  • WHAT: Science Story Time
  • WHEN: Nov. 8 & Dec. 6
  • TIME: 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
  • WHERE: Roche Hall at Penn State Behrend

Science Story Time is free and open to all preschool-aged children accompanied by an adult. Just be sure to RSVP in advance for both you and your child at this link.

Each session includes a story reading and hands-on lesson by Tracy Halmi, associate teaching professor of chemistry.

Trooper Shick from Meadville PSP visited MES on Thursday, October 17 to go over the importance of bus safety with all of our students. She met with each grade level to go over our bus expectations and then had them practice on a bus parked by the auditorium. Thank you, Ms. McPherson for setting this up for all of us!
