From Your Pastors
We had a wonderful worship experience last Sunday with our youth leading the activities. It was great to see a large turnout for both services which focused on the many facets of our youth ministry program. We have a lot to thank God for at Zion through such ministries. Thank you to all those who participated last Sunday, and to our youth leaders who worked hard organizing the event!
Our fall schedule resumes this Sunday with a full slate of activities and Bible study classes. Three adult Bible studies are being offered along with Kids Connect and activities for junior and senior high students. These are great opportunities to grow in faith. See the flyer in the Hilltop Headlines for more details.
This Sunday we are excited to begin a new 7-week message series: “Building Resilience in Challenging Times.” The series is built upon Is. 40.31 – Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. Each week we will look at an Old Testament figure seeking lessons on building a resilient faith that can handle the challenges life can throw at us. The series will end the weekend of Family Camp Oct. 9.
Remember, if you need to miss a Sunday due to travel plans, you can always view the messages and worship services archived on our website: www.zionwalburg.org.
Please keep your pastors informed on how we can be a blessing to you and your family. Call (512.863.3065) or email the church office (church@zionwalburg.org) with any news to share. See you Sunday!

Wurstbraten - How the Torch is Passed!
In this announcement I would like to encourage anyone who was at the first Wurstbraten or got involved later to relate how they got involved, what they started doing and how they got to be involved to the point where they are now. This is especially relevant for those who are now considered captains. If you have a special memory of how you saw this relatively small activity blossom and morph into what it has become I am hoping that you would share this with the rest of us. Please send it to me by email or put it in the box.
If you would like to be part of the process to come up with the design and implementation please contact Weldon at 512-635-6429 or email at 49weldon72@gmail.com.

The Lutheran Hour
"A New Day With Jesus"
The theme of the 2023 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade is "Turning the Corner" and the theme for the Lutheran Hour Ministries Float is "A New Day With Jesus". Reflecting on this year's theme, the float shares the eternal hope and joy that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
Throughout the Bible, "the day of the Lord" is a theme marking a new time when the current evils and brokenness of the world will be gone and everything is made new. Faith in Jesus Christ gives us little glimpses of that new day even now and it keeps us pressing forward to the consummation of His eternal reign.
A new day is dawning on the LHM Float as the sun rises up from behind the church. Families are gathering together. The steeple directs your eyes upward to the cross of Christ and the stained-glass windows tell the story of how God is making all things new. Jesus stands at the open doors of the church ready to welcome each and everyone of you into His fold, where He promises to make Himself known in the gathering of His people, and reading and proclaiming of His word, and participation in His Holy Baptism and Communion.
With this year's float, LHM invites you to meet - or meet anew - the source of hope and joy that cannot be taken away by anything that the world throws at you. The church doors are open, the people are gathered, all is ready. Come, see, hear, and experience the goodness of Jesus Christ.
