Dear Families,

We're excited to share that over the next couple of months, all of the devices at Lake are being refreshed and updated. Our district IT department is working hard behind the scenes to receive, program, and prepare each device for staff and students. They've been working on this for every student and teacher across the district, and we're happy to announce that Lake's devices are getting prepared now and heading our way. We'll be going through each class and grade level to swap our oldest devices first. Please be on the lookout for information about when to be prepared to make this swap - Classic students will need to bring their device and charger to school when swapping devices, and Virtual classes will be given a date and time to do a drive-through swap.

As we exchange student devices, please help your child to take great care with their new device. We are fortunate to have been able to get every student a new Chromebook or iPad this year, and we rely on these devices working and being in good order for several years and future students to come. You might consider getting a cover or case if your child brings the device between home and school daily. Please also designate a safe spot in the house for the device (away from food, pets, and younger siblings) when devices are at home.

In other news, registration for new TK and Kindergarten students will begin on March 1st! Any new registrations start online at www.vistausd.org. Once the online registration is completed, parents should call Lake's office to make an appointment to come in and complete the registration process. To finish enrollment, parents will need to bring in a Proof of Address, Birth Certificate, and Immunization Records. We are excited to get our newest dolphins enrolled!

Library Book Checkout!

Exciting news Lake families, library book check-outs are now available. The Lake Library has started an online Library book hold and check out process for both Classic & Virtual students in 3rd-5th Grade.

The day for both Virtual & Classic pick up and drop off will be on Wednesdays. For Virtual parents, books will be available for pick up & drop off on a cart in Dolphin Island on Wednesday between 8am-1pm. Books will be labeled with names by grade, alphabetically by last name. Classic students will also be able to pick up and drop off books on Wednesdays on a cart labeled outside the Library before or after school. Students can keep books for 2 weeks at a time, so pick up and drop off is every other week. Due dates will be labeled on each book pick up.

It is very important that students return their books on time before checking out/picking up new books. There are a maximum of 2 holds per student in case a book is not available. Books will be quarantined for 3 days in the Library before being checked out again. Please return any overdue Library books to the Lake Library as soon as possible.

The Library pick up/drop off dates for your child will be communicated by your teacher and librarian. All Lake students also have access to eBook resources and online read-alouds, so please check out the Lake Library homepage for more information. https://www.lk.vistausd.org/about_us/library

Thank you & happy reading!
