Friday Academy
As mentioned at the curriculum night meeting, we have rolled out Friday Academy this week. Your child may have come home with one or more Friday Academy slips for you to sign. The slips are different colors based on which class they are behind in and include the names of the assignments that are missing. (Baril-blue, Madden-green, Fariss-pink, Redburn-orange)
This slip of paper is your notice that your child did not finish their work in the expected time frame and that if it is not finished by 2:00 on Friday, they will need to stay after school until 3:45. Please sign the slip(s) if your child brings one home and indicate how your child will be getting home on Friday.
Students are ONLY expected to stay if they have not completed the missing work. Any 504 or Special Education accommodations your child might have are also considered before assigning Friday Academy.
Part of the goal of Friday Academy is to make the students more aware of their work, and encourage them to take care of it in a timely manner. As you may know, middle school’s late work policy is much more strict. We want to help develop a sense of responsibility and awareness in our students before we send them off to middle school.
Thanks for being supportive and involved. Please let us know if you have any questions!
