HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 2 Week 6 - 5 June 2020
FROM GEORDIE:
Good afternoon everyone!
I hope everyone had a great long weekend, a nice short week and are ready for the next round of restrictions to be lifted. The weather is looking stunning tomorrow so I am looking to get out on the bike for a nice long ride down to Dwellingup!
Things are starting to crank up again here at school and Mr Flexman has been busily preparing for the Holy Rosary Cross Country Carnival on Friday the 26th of June. Rob has been pestering the local council and we now have permission to use Jackadder Lake which will be great. In the event of bad rain we have the option to run the carnival on our school course too. More info will go out today which is really exciting!
Mrs Butson has also been getting her groove on this week and with the help of the Year 6 council groups, has been organising a socially distant Holy Rosary Disco to be held at school next Friday the 12th June after lunch. This is sure to be a hoot and I would like to thank all the Year 6’s for leading the way in organising a bit of fun for everyone.
As you will have likely heard on the news, YOU GUYS ARE ALLOWED BACK! This is another great step in the road to normality and as of Monday parents are allowed to come through the gates again. We have of course received some feedback about how much parents are loving the ‘drop and run’ scenario and so there will be some small changes to the way things have previously been done.
As it was, school times start at 8:45am and finish at 3:05pm. The drive-through can be used to drop off students in the morning from 8:30am - 8:45am and in the afternoon from 3:05pm - 3:20pm. A small change is that we are going to trial keeping the drive-through open for Pre-Primary students and there will be a staff member there to welcome the kids who will walk up to class in a small group of their peers or with the adult at 8.45am.
Please note that parents should still not enter the classroom before or after school without an appointment or if they are in for parent help etc. Teachers are now able to hold face-to-face meetings and these can be organised through Michele in the office, however, we are still trying to limit the number of adults inside the classrooms where we can.
I would like to thank parents for their vigilance in keeping students home when they are not well. This has made a huge difference and as a parent myself, I really understand how challenging this is at times. It is however, really important. My son George has also been off this week and so I understand the juggling that goes on, particularly when both parents are working. So thanks to everyone for your help in this space. Just a small reminder that now that we are back to classroom schooling, children who are sick will not have ‘home learning’ sent home for that day as the teachers need to focus on the classroom activities. Making sure students have access to a good book, some writing/drawing materials and having a good rest is, in my opinion, the best way to get better as quickly as possible!
I hope everyone has an AWESOME weekend and gets to spend some quality time with friends, family and loved ones. Stay safe and I look forward to getting stuck into the rest of the term.

Small Business Shout Outs
Our Holy Rosary Community is home to many small businesses. And many of those businesses are struggling right now, so we’d like to support them where we can.
If you have a small business you would like to promote, please send through a picture with a short description of your business and/or a special offer toholyrosaryhelpers@gmail.com
We will then post a shout out on Facebook and in the weekly newsletter.
Every little bit helps at the moment, so if we can all remember our small business community when needing a product or a service I’m sure the support would be appreciated immensely.
Don’t forget we also have our small business directory that is available 24/7 via the website.
Let’s get behind our small business community!

LIBRARY NEWS
This week in the library we were all about being kind– to each other and to our world. We listened to some American children speak about the importance of kindness and their hopes for a better world, and watched a rap of ‘The Lorax’ a story we all know about protecting our environment. All while we were borrowing and reading a record number of books! Well done!
