The Power of Praise
The Peacebuilders' Pledge is a longstanding tradition at CPA. Through the Peacebuilders' Pledge, we recommit to spreading kindness and peace at home, and school, and in our community. As part of the pledge, we say these important words: I will praise people.
Why is praise so important? What makes praise a crucial part of a peaceful community? We know that peace is not just the absence of violence, but the presence of something. Think about this: how do you feel when you are praised? When someone notices your kind gesture, appreciates the quality of your work, or recognizes you have gone above and beyond in some way?
Praise helps people feel seen and valued. Knowing we are valued within our community bonds us to that community and the others around us, leading to a true community of peace. Let's all make it our goal to praise people this week and watch our peaceful community grow stronger!
