A message from Mrs. Rittmiller
Here are a few question prompts you can ask your child about their school day:
- Tell me about the best part of your day.
- What was the hardest thing you had to do today?
- Did any of your classmates do anything funny?
- Tell me about what you read in class.
- Who did you play with today?
- Do you think math [or any subject] is too easy or too hard?
Thank you for your continued support and your check-ins about how your child.
Together in Learning,
Mrs. Rittmiller

Chromebooks at Hilltop
- All students have been able to take chromebooks home for homework!
- After our MEA break, we will no longer be borrowing chromebooks to students who have forgotten chromebooks at home for the school day. Students will be doing work without technology.
- If a student has forgotten his/her chromebook 3 or more times, we will ask that the chromebook stays at school.
- We are trying to raise independent learners and thinkers! We will not be calling parents to bring in forgotten chromebooks.
From the LSH Health Office:
A huge thank you to all our parents/guardians for helping to keep our school doors open and keeping sick kids home. Please continue to monitor students for any symptoms of illness daily, we strongly recommend that you follow the MDH and CDC guidance related to illness. If your student is sick, keep them home and speak with your healthcare provider regarding the need for COVID testing. Students should have 24 hours of symptom improvement prior to returning to school. If a student is exhibiting any signs of illness (ie. cough, runny nose, sore throat, etc.) and still attending school, it is expected that they wear a mask/face covering while in our school buildings.
Coming soon - the state of Minnesota has come out with a program that supplies free BinaxNOW OTC test kits for students. More information will be shared after they are received. Please note - these are test kits that families may request and complete at home - we will not be testing students in school.
Secondly, we are in the beginning stages of the Cold/Flu season, consider getting your student and family vaccinated against the flu. Even normally healthy people can experience severe complications from the flu. Protecting yourself with a flu vaccine is one of the best defenses. Check with your healthcare provider, local pharmacy, or county public health department for availability.
And lastly, following FDA authorization, the state of MN is now expected to start offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11 years by the end of this week. It is important to speak with your healthcare provider and make a plan that is right for you and your child. If interested, vaccine information can be found on the newly launched webpage (mn.gov/vaxforkids). You may also call the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 Public Hotline at 1-833-431-2053 for questions. This number is available Monday-Friday, 9:00am-7:00pm and Satrudays, 10:00am-6:00pm. Please watch your email for a google survey related to interest in a vaccination clinic being held in our community. Again, thank you for partnering with us to keep our students and staff safe, healthy, and in school!
