Black History Month - February 2023
Celebrating Black Excellence
Honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future with our Black History Month collection inside of Sora, the student reading app.
Google Arts & Culture is a free, non-commercial initiative and is a perfect resource for teachers and students. The mission, a collaboration among cultural institutions, artists and educators from around the world, is to preserve and showcase the world’s art and culture online so that it’s accessible to anyone and everyone. There are a plethora of resources and topics across all subject and interest levels including augmented reality tools, art galleries, 3D tours, and more. Check out the rich library of resources in the Google Arts & Culture’s latest collection that celebrates Black History. See Martin Luther King Jr.’s Memorial in Virtual Reality, take a tour celebrating African American Heritage with the National Park Service, celebrate pop culture pioneers as well as music icons, and more!
You sunk my Battleship! 🚢
Inside this month’s Tech Snacks, we continue to share various Drone Games to engage students for fun competition. We shared Drone Bowling, Drone Darts and Drones Connect 3 in previous editions. This month’s game is Drone Battleship. This game ratchets up the difficulty in following a winning strategy while giving students another reason to code. Good luck to ship captains and drone pilots!

What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an online AI platform that provides responses to questions, based on human feedback. Some liken it to calculators in math classrooms. There are many resources of how to incorporate it into classroom (see below). According to the terms of service, users must be 18 years old or older. Students should not be encouraged or asked to use the site or create an account. However, teachers may use it for teaching demonstration purposes.
Matt Miller from Ditch That Textbook has some great resources for teachers on ChatGPT and Chatbots and Artificial Intelligence in Education.
