Join us for a day of "follow up training and support" with Susan Lohnes, certified trainer of the Orton-Gillingham approach.
The event is co-sponsored by the Madison-Champaign & Midwest Regional ESCs.
Workshop Description & Overview
Overview: This workshop is designed to provide continuing training and support for educators who previously participated in the "Orton-Gillingham: A Modified Approach" workshop presented by Susan Lohnes.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet with the presenter, Susan Lohnes, to review previously learned information, learn new information, share and hear personal experiences from other educators regarding their implementation of Modified O-G strategies, and to ask questions and seek guidance on future implementation of the high impact strategies.

About the Instructor: Susan Lohnes
Course Instructor: Susan Lohnes is a certified trainer of the Orton‐Gillingham Approach. She has more than 35 years in education with extensive experience training teachers and parents, and educating children who exhibit reading delays and disabilities. Susan is a teacher and past administrator who understands the significance of obstacles that both children and adults face when learning to read.
Susan has served as a special education teacher, supervisor, and director for the Springfield City Schools. Additionally, she was the special education supervisor/director for Xenia City Schools. She has experience teaching at the elementary, middle school, high school and college levels. Susan has successfully utilized the Orton‐Gillingham approach with students and adults in small and large group settings. Orton-Gillingham can be used with all students, within all 3 tiers of intervention. This multi-sensory approach is especially helpful in teaching children with dyslexia and other language-based delays
IMPORTANT INFORMATION & REMINDERS
What time should I arrive at the training site? Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete the check-in process.
Food & Beverage: Water and breakfast bars will be available.While coffee or other food may not be served, participants are free to bring snack items for themselves or to share with the group. Everyone will be on their own for lunch. Please plan accordingly…..
What You Should Bring? Participants should bring the binder, books, and cards provided to them at the "Modified Orton Gillingham Workshop" by Susan Lohnes. Attendees should also bring note taking materials and writing utensils with them to the follow-up event.
Cancellation Policy - Due to the costs associated with this event, cancellations must be received by February 15, 2019 at 3:00 pm. Cancellations received outside of this policy will not be accepted. Attendees and/or employing districts will be billed accordingly.
Weather Contingency Policy: Participants should plan to arrive unless they receive a formal “CLOSURE / CANCELLATION” email from the Midwest Regional ESC or Madison-Champaign County ESC on the morning of the event.
