Happy Monday NBS!
We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying some "warmer" temperatures! With the month of March around the corner, we are encouraged by all the good things coming up! Thanks to Mr. Johnson, the fifth graders are starting their basketball season. This year will be an abbreviated schedule with 3 games for the boy's and girls' teams. No spectators this year, but the games will be live-streamed for all to enjoy!
We are also in the early planning stages for our NBS 2021 Field Day! All elementary schools will be celebrating Field Day on Friday, May 21st with a rain date of Tuesday, May 25th. All students will be invited to Field Day activities at their home school. As plans evolve, we will keep you posted! Fifth-grade Recognition is also tentatively planned for Friday, May 28th. Stay tuned for more details to come!
In a school year like no other, we so appreciate your flexibility, positivity, and patience with our spring planning! As always, we welcome any input, questions, and ideas. These kids sure deserve a fun spring!

Last call for yearbook pictures!! So many parents have been amazing at sending pictures of their kiddos to me for the yearbook!! I have been able to include so MANY of them! If you have any pictures of your kiddo/kiddos going back to school, elearning with specials (much needed!), Valentine parties, etc., please send them to Julie at email@example.com.
Full disclosure that all pics may not be included but would like to have a variety of pictures to choose from and will definitely try to get everyone in!
We will be taking pictures for the yearbook of the children who were not able to come to get their class pictures taken in October or November. These pictures will just be used for the yearbook, not to be included in the official class pictures that your child would get from the company.
Yearbook Pictures Schedule:
Tuesday, February 23rd
- 1st grade
- 2nd grade
Thursday, February 25th
- 3rd grade
- 4th grade
- 5th grade
We will be taking the pictures in the foyer so that those who will be remote learning will be able to come in quickly and go right back out. The morning pictures will start at 8:30-10:00 am and the afternoon pictures will start at 12:20-1:30 pm. E-learning students can come anytime during those times. Email Julie at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Barrington 220 is excited to partner with BStrong Together and Barrington Youth & Family Services for two upcoming virtual Parent University sessions focused on our students' social and emotional well-being.
"Cultivating Resilience During COVID-19" will take place on Thursday, March 4 at 7pm. Dr. Doug Bolton will guide parents through these challenging times by highlighting strategies that will build resilience in our children, so they can effectively manage stress now and in the future. Dr. Bolton has used his degrees in clinical psychology, school psychology, and educational leadership to support students with social, emotional and behavioral challenges in schools since 1987. He worked in therapeutic schools for 10 years as a school psychologist, before spending the next 14 years as principal of North Shore Academy, a K-12 public therapeutic school.

NBS PTO Fundraising
No Stress Fundraising
Traditionally, we would be preparing for our biennial Adult Social, which is our biggest fundraising event of the year. We are postponing this event until the 2021-2022 school year. We have decided as a Board to open up a “No Stress” fundraiser where parents can contribute as much as they want directly to the PTO without purchasing any extra products or attending fundraising events. We will be in touch with all of the details!
Did you know that you can help support NBS by clicking a button and shopping normally? We have partnered with both Amazon Smile and Heinens to provide us with a small percentage of all of your purchases! Everything is automatic and there are no extra steps for you once you enroll. See below for more information on how to enroll.
Please direct all Fundraising questions and ideas to Amy Vandenbergh, at email@example.com. Thank you for your support!
