Weekly Update
As I visit the various schools, there is an air of excitement building throughout the hallways. We can't wait to get our students back and fill our classrooms with laughter and joy. There is a lot to look forward to this year in Lamoille South.
This week, our school board met and discussed several important topics. The most pressing was a review of our return to school procedures and plans for the year ahead. The board unanimously approved the return to school plan that was designed based on preventative measures from the State, recommendations from the Vermont Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics and guidance from the CDC. We are also very fortunate to have had two local doctors from Lamoille Health Partners review our plan and provide their insight.
You can read the full plan HERE. Please note we will be reviewing this plan throughout the year as we learn more and things change in regards to vaccination eligibility, community transmission, and recommendations from public health experts. Our goal is to maintain full time, in-person learning for the year ahead.
Many parents have asked what they can do to support this goal. The number one thing we need your support on is to keep your children home if they are sick or have been exposed. This flowchart is a useful tool to help determine how to address COVID symptoms or exposure. There is no doubt that keeping our students in school will require a team effort this year and we are very grateful for your support.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns. I am always accessible and willing to discuss anything that is on your mind.
Thank you,
Ryan Heraty
