The Cat's Connection
November
Awesomizing at LaCreole!
Welcome to November! Things have been moving quickly this school year and it is great to see the things our kids are doing on a daily basis. We had a great turn out for our Open House and Exhibition Night which was our largest turnout I can remember. Hopefully those who came and saw were able to get a sense about our learning culture at school, and how our kids are excited about the challenges they are faced with everyday. I am proud of the work that our staff and kids do, and believe that we are making progress helping them become creative problem solvers, and are seeing their confidence and initiative grow throughout.
I have attached a video we created about how we are working toward innovation in community to benefit our kids coined Innovate Dallas, which we will be sharing more about in the months to come. Enjoy!
Glad you're here!

November 20, 8:00 a.m. to noon

Canned Food Drive to Benefit Christmas Cheer
This year's canned food drive has officially begun! We will be collecting non-perishable food now through December 12th. Grades will compete against each other for the top number of points brought in, as well as an advisory competition between 1st period classes. Lets see which class can bring in the most to win a pizza party! Winning grade level will receive a Root Beer Float party. The food drive goes to support Christmas Cheer, a local program aimed at providing food for families in need during the holiday season. Lets go Wildcats!
Activity Night
Activity Night Special! 30 minute early entry (6:30 p.m.) for students who bring $5 AND 5 points worth of non-perishable food for the food drive!
- Cost is 5 $ at the door.
- Snacks available for purchase

November/December Makerspace Challenge: "Make a Gift"
We have new supplies and tools in our Makerspace! Mrs. Deters has invited students to use the supplies to make a gift for someone else. Design forms need to be submitted to Mrs. Deters to get started.
A Focus on Technology
Part of the challenge is knowing what we are up against. The link below is a realistic view on the impact technology has on us all, even more so for our kids. Sometimes this has a positive impact and sometimes not technology can take its toll.
It is our hope to help with the increasing challenges for our students and hope to provide conversation pieces for families. We believe technology can be a learning tool, one that our students will need to learn to manage. This starts with conversations at home and at school.
We will also be looking to host events to raise awareness and share strategies in helping our students navigate their worlds.
