Mission Statement

St. Maria Goretti is a living testament to our Lord's work in His youngest disciples, exemplified by academic excellence, spiritual formation, and compassionate service to others.

St. Maria Goretti Catholic School aims to form what is True, Good, and Beautiful in the souls of our young disciples of Christ.

Principal's Message

Dear St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Families,

Thank you for the big turnout at Spring Creek BBQ. We appreciate your support. We were able to sell 100 BBQ Sauce boxes which means Spring Creek will add an additional $1,000 to our total from the evening. Thank you to all who bought sauce and came to eat!

Please remember on Monday we will be attending All Saints Day Mass at 8:00 AM. Please be sure your students are on time that day.

Students in grades PreK-4 will be processing at the beginning of Mass and we want to make sure that everyone is there to participate. Students who are dressing up will need to come to school in their saint costumes with their Mass uniform underneath. Students in PreK-4th grade will take their costumes off after Mass. Please see the information given by the religion teachers regarding the dress code.

On Monday, please make plans to stop by the SMG Center and see the Living Saint Museum from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM. All parents and parishioners are welcome to come and learn more about the saints.

SMGCS will be hosting the 7:30 AM Mass on Sunday, November 14, 2021. Please see the Sign Up Genius below to sign up for a Mass part. Please plan to attend in your school Mass uniform.

Finally, I am pleased to announce that Ms. Molly Fenoglio will be joining the SMGCS family as the new PE teacher and Kindergarten and 1st-grade religion teacher. Ms. Fenoglio is a graduate of St. Andrew and Nolan Catholic. She has her master's in Kinesiology and holds certifications in Sports Medicine, Sports Nutrition, and is a certified Trainer. In her free time, she enjoys outside activities with her beloved Corgi, Winston. Her first day with us will be this Thursday, November 4th. Please be sure to welcome her to the SMGCS family.

Please keep Ms. Fenoglio in your prayers.

St. Maria Goretti, Pray for Us!

Blessings,

Amy Utendorf, M.Ed.

Trunk or Treat

We had a hauntingly good time at our 2nd annual SMG Trunk or Treat. In this tailgate-style "trick-or-treat", kids went from parked car to parked car gathering candy and other goodies. Students wore their fall or Halloween themed socks and were provided with bags to collect treats. A huge thanks to our many volunteers who donated candy and decorated their cars to make this a spooky fun day.

Music

The Hardanger Fiddle (in Norwegian, hardingfele) is often called the national instrument of Norway. It is similar to the violin and each one is a handmade word of art. A typical hardingfele is beautifully decorated with Mother-of-pearl inlay and black pen-and-ink drawings, classed rosing. it is topped with a carved head of a maiden or, more frequently, or an animal, usually a lion.

Edward Grieg adapted many Hardanger folk tunes into his compositions, and composed tunes for the Hardanger as part of the score for Ibsen's Peer Gynt Suite No.1. The opening phrase of "Morning" from Grieg's Peer Gynt music is derived from the tuning of the sympathetic (resonator) strings of the Hardanger fiddle.

Check out these fiddles created by our own SMG musicians.
