Architecture
Greek architecture is known for its columns. There are three types of columns: Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. Other types of Geek art include pottery, sculptors, and paintings. Every city-state had a temple that was dedicated to a specific god. They went there to worship and make sacrifices. Some leaders like Pericles and Alexander the Great spread the Greek architecture throughout Europe.
We see Greek influence in architecture today in important buildings. The White house, Capitol Buildings, Supreme Court and the Lincoln Memorial all have columns that show Greek influence.
Government
The Government was a direct democracy, were everyone could voice there opinions and votes on laws. It started at 10 years, to 6 years, and ending with 1 year they changed and have a limit. Slavery was a very common practice in Greek history. The wars that have occurred are the Persian Wars and the Peloponnesian Wars.
We have a democracy too, people can vote. To participate in Government you must be 18 years or older. The limit is you can only be elected President for 4 years, and can only run twice.
Philosophy
Some of the philosophers in Ancient Greek are Aristotle, Solon, Pythagoras, Gorgas, Thales, Poseidon, and Archimedes. The different beliefs of them are that Solon helped develop a democracy. Pythagoras discovered Pythagorean. Aris to was thought to bare mental science. The Ancient Greece philosophers wrote Odysseus, Iliad's, and Madras. The Ancient Greek people were always questioning life, they tried to answer why the stars, sun, planets, and constellations were even there.
What we can relate to Philosophy is, we see Drs. using the Hieratic Oath, we still use PI, we still study geometry, and Dythogorium thereon.
Sports
The people that played sports in ancient Greece are people who were free and a man. You can't watch the games as a female. They people who watched the games were Zeus unmarried women, and gods. The athletic competition was created by a combination of religious festivals and sporting events. It was a very important role to Greece. The men were rewarded greatly, with a free meal, metals, and etc.
Today we have the Olympics, and many of the same events that were played in the Olympics. We even see some of the evens at county fairs- such as horse racing.
Mythology
Ancient Greeks told there stories with Myths, to explain the unexplainable. The unexplainable were things that are now understood through science, weather, and etc. Homer and Asop wrote Mythology, with there prior knowledge and things that they were told. The ancient Greek people believed that when you die you are being judged, to be with hades in the underworld.
We can relate to mythology today from the books Percy Jackson, movies such as Hercules, and it is also still studied today.
