Writing with Storybird
Help your students join the visual storytelling community!
Its a WIN-WIN!
Storybird is a visual storytelling community. A global hub of readers, writers, and artists of all ages. It allows anyone create beautiful, fun, art-inspired poems or stories in seconds.
Art! Inspiration! Illustrations! OH MY!
Authors can create individual stories, work together in small groups, or as a class to create a story in a round robin fashion by writing their own text and inserting pictures. Or, you can work backwards- start with the pictures and add the text!
Multiple Platforms Possible!
Everybody Reads and Writes! Regardless of what kind of technology is available, Storybird can be done on desktops, laptops, chrome books, or iPads. It is an option for all language and grade levels. Teachers can develop writing and technology skills at once.
Hit the 4 C's!
Reading and Writing with Storybird inherently addresses communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking! The best part though- is students don't even notice! They are far too engaged, connecting with others, fleshing out ideas, laughing, reading and editing out loud. And an added bonus- publishing and sharing with others with pride.
It's Safe!
Is Storybird safe?
It is designed to be a safe place for kids. It is not a virtual world. There are no chat engines, so students cannot have a real-time conversation with anyone. No information is requested to set up a free account, except for an email address. All Storybirds that are shared publicly are reviewed before appearing in the library. If Storybird finds inappropriate material, the story is pulled.
