Letter from the Principal
God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets for the Lord! --Psalm 47:2
We celebrate the Ascension of our Lord into Heaven. Jesus gives us a Spirit of wisdom and revelation because we have come to know Him. While on Earth, He taught us how to live and more importantly to love. With open eyes and hearts, we are blessed with the riches of eternal life He wants us to treasure. He also wants us to live in a manner worthy of the call we have received with humility, gentleness, and patience. God provides the grace we need to live as His children. We should teach others the way He teaches us, but most importantly to love and be holy as we work toward peace in our lives. Jesus reminds us the Gospel message is for everyone, and it is for us to spread it to everyone!
Take time this Mother’s Day to honor your mom. Moms are the best! They show us how to truly love through the many sacrifices they offer for us. May God bless you abundantly on this Mother’s Day and always!
Happy Mother’s Day!
A Prayer in Gratitude for Our Mothers
Good and Gentle God,
we pray in gratitude for our mothers and for all the women of theory who have joined with you in the wonder of bringing forth new life. You who became human through a woman, grant to all mothers the courage they need to face the uncertain future that life with children always brings.
Give them the strength to live and to be loved in return, not perfectly, but humanly.
Give them the faithful support of husband, family and friends as they care for the physical and spiritual growth of their children.
Give them joy and delight in their children to sustain them through the trials of motherhood. Most of all, give them the wisdom to turn to you for help when they need it most. - Author Unknown

Volunteer Spirit Hour Updates
Hello SMG Families,
Thank you for all you have done to support SMG this school year. Your partnership with St. Maria Goretti School is important – without your contribution of Time, Talents and Treasure, we could not do all the things that make our school special. Your contribution of SPIRIT hours is one of the ways you demonstrate your partnership with our school. As you know, your contribution of SPIRIT hours will be considered when making enrollment and financial aid decisions for next year.
Please take a moment to check that you have submitted all your volunteer hours for this year and go ahead and get those in if you have not already done so. As a rule of thumb, if you did not sign a sign-in sheet at the time you volunteered, they you must submit the volunteer hours yourself. Signing up on SignUp Genius is not the same as submitting your hours. (SignUp Genius lets the organizer know that they have the volunteer support needed to execute their event. Actual hours worked in support of the event must be submitted separately, either via a sign-in sheet or by individual submission). The deadline to turn in SPIRIT hours is Friday, May 11th to have them included on your family’s final report, which will come home with your youngest student around May 16th. If you earn SPIRIT hours after May 11th, please submit those hours to the office before you leave the school so that your totals can be adjusted before I submit the official Year-End Reports to Mrs. Pierce and Mrs. Benson.
If you are still in need of SPIRIT hours to meet your commitment, we have a few more opportunities for volunteers in May – see below and check our SignUp Genius page for more details. If you are unable to meet your commitment for some reason, please contact the school to discuss a plan.
