Sussex Avenue News That You Can Use
Dear Families,
We will begin Phase III of the Morris School District Virtual Learning Plan on Monday, April 20th. I am including a link to the presentation Mr. Pendergrast sent out here in English and here in Spanish. I am very excited for this next phase as it will afford students the introduction of new content and more teacher/student face to face contact time. I am especially looking forward to being able to join classroom live sessions to see our students regularly.
Below are some key details of the Phase III plan that I'd like to highlight for you:
- The school day will begin at 9:00 a.m.
Introduction of new content in 3 subject areas each day M-Th
On Flexible Fridays students will engage in enrichment, catch-up support, social-emotional learning, virtual field trips, service learning and other activities
- “Live” instruction will occur 3 times a day utilizing interactive platforms, such as Google Meet. These session will be recorded; please note the following:
Recordings may ONLY be accessed through your child’s Google Classroom (and thus are password-protected)
Students may NOT record, screenshot, or otherwise share Google Meet sessions or recordings. This is a violation of District policy.
Parents/guardians were sent a Consent Form for Video/Audio Conferencing via Swift alert. This form is required for your child to participate in live sessions on Google Meet. Please complete the form if you have not already done so by clicking here.
Attendance during live sessions is always optional; students may access the recording at a later time.
Please share and discuss the changes and guidelines mentioned above with your child so they are aware of the expectations during our school day.
If you have any questions about your child's virtual learning experience, please contact your child’s teacher.
Be Well,
Lorri Vaccaro
Principal
Student Learning Intentions for the Week
Week of April 20th-April 24th
This schedule is to help keep students organized on which Specials activities to complete. However, students will be able to access Specials activities throughout the week. The letter day will be shared by your child's homeroom teacher each day.
Parents please remind your child to make sure they are completing the activities in the Special Area classrooms as well each week. Your special area teachers are also working very hard to provide your child with content from these specialized areas as well. We appreciate your assistance.
Monday, April 20th is a D day.
