Last Home Games
Spring sports seasons are winding down as our teams prepare for area tournaments and state playoffs!
Softball: The Lady Trojans' last regular season home softball game is tonight against Bob Jones. Varsity plays at 4:30. JV plays at 6:00.
Soccer: Our girls soccer teams play their last regular season home games Tuesday night against Elkmont. JV plays at 5:00. Varsity plays at 7:00.
We hope the Trojan Nation will cheer on our teams!

UA Hosts Junior Reception Event at Toyota Field in Huntsville
The University of Alabama is hosting a Junior Reception event at Toyota Field on Monday, April 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Dave Draper Sr. Memorial Scholarship (Local)
The Dave Draper Sr. Memorial Scholarship is a LOCAL scholarship that requires a 2.5 GPA or higher, financial need, and an essay. See attachment below for more information.

Medical Academy Internship: HGHS Medical Academy is now accepting applications for 2021-2022 school year Medical Academy interns. Students must read the directions on the attached document and have two teachers/coaches fill out the recommendation form. Recommendation letters can be turned in to either Frasier or Thomson. If the student is turning them in, recommendations must come in a sealed envelope. All must be turned in by Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
Medical Academy Internship Application
Student Council: If you're interested in running for Student Council office for the 2021-2022 school year, or if you just want to find out more about the HGHS Student Council, please join our current SCA officers for an interest meeting on Thursday, April 22, at 8:00 a.m. in the library. We will discuss the application process for students who want to run for office and detail our plans for the upcoming school year. Everyone is invited!

Yearbook Staff: Are you interested in joining the 2021-22 Yearbook Staff? Applications are available now. Look for the QR Code outside Ms. DeHart's room, on the Red Zone bulletin boards, or outside your English teacher's room. You can also CLICK HERE to apply.

Live at the Green--FFA String Band Concert: Our HGHS FFA String Band will perform an outdoor concert at the football stadium on April 27th at 7 p.m. Seating will be limited. Tickets are only available on GoFan. Click HERE to purchase tickets. We hope to see you there!
Theatre's Spring Musical: Tickets for HG Theatre's first ever MUSICAL, Ducktails & Bobbysox, are now available for purchase on GoFan! Click HERE to purchase your tickets. No tickets will be sold at the door. The show dates are April 29, 30, and May 1.
Enrollment for NEW Students: PowerSchool Enrollment is now open for NEW students who will attend Madison County Schools for the school year 2021-2022. MCSS will offer two options for student instruction next school year: in-person instruction at your home school or enrollment in the Madison County Virtual Academy (grades 4-12). Attached is a newsletter containing information you will need to enroll your child in PowerSchool.
*RETURNING students will begin enrollment in June 2021.

Football's Mattress Fundraiser: HG football's mattress fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 1st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at HGHS. Please save the date and support our football team!
Graduation Speech Auditions: Auditions to speak at our Hazel Green High School Graduation will be Monday, May 3, at 3:45 p.m. in the Black Box. Students must be members of the HGHS Class of 2021 and must be planning to graduate in May. Students may submit their speeches via a video (send to ebrady@madison.k12.al.us) or perform it in-person on May 3rd before our school panel of teachers and administrators. Speeches should be between 3 and 5 minutes and appropriate for opening or closing our high school graduation ceremony. Students must be in good standing with the school for selection.
Volleyball: Our 2021 Lady Trojan Volleyball Tryouts will be held May 3-6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the old gym. (Enter through the back of the school in the courtyard at door #44.)
All athletes must have an up-to-date physical and must wear athletic clothes, athletic shoes, and knee pads.
JROTC AIR RIFLE TEAM:
Location: JROTC Air Rifle Range, Hazel Green High School
Dates: May 10-21, 2021 (each school day)
Training Days: May 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21
Team Qualifying Match Dates: May 20-21
Time: 6:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. each morning
Fee: Free (Student must be enrolled in JROTC at least one semester next school year.)

HGHS Graduation: Our Hazel Green High School Graduation will be held on May 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the VBC Arena. Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at the VBC the morning of graduation. Each graduate will receive eight tickets for family and friends. Masks will be required for all graduates and guests.

*HGHS will serve lunch (and a breakfast for the next day) from 11:00-Noon each day to our remote students. There is no cost for these meals. Meals can be picked up in the car rider line at the back of the school.

Permanent Announcements
Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.

Subscriptions are $9.99 a month (can be renewed monthly) or $69.99 a year (renewed annually).
Great for family or friends who cannot attend events or those who live a distance away.
HGHS Check-Out Procedures:
- Students drop check-out notes in the basket on the attendance clerk’s desk before 8:30 in the morning.
- Notes will be verified by the attendance clerk prior to the time of check-out.
- Check-out notes need the following information:
- Student’s first and last name (printed)
- Time of check-out
- Reason for check-out
- Parent’s signature
- Parent’s contact information
Without a parent note, no student will be allowed to check out unless a parent/guardian comes to the Attendance Office to check out the student. Parent notes must be turned in to the Attendance Office before 8:30 a.m. No phone checkouts will be allowed. The only exception will be if the school nurse determines that a student is sick and needs to go home. The school nurse will then contact the parent/guardian and the Attendance Office.
*Please go to door #44 at the back of the school (near the Trojan statue and courtyard) for all check outs. No check outs are done through the front office.
