Notes from the Principal's Desk
This school year is going so fast!
We have set a goal for our school that our students will increase their number fluency. If you can find time at home to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division it would help your child at school! If you would like some ideas on how you can help, please reach out to me or your child’s teacher.
A big thank-you to all of our parents and students who supported our book fair! It was very successful!
Please join us for our Grandparent's breakfast on Nov. 23rd at 7:30am.
ATTENDANCE
Please partner with us to provide the best education possible to our students! This school year, we have had 10% of the students at Mary Lynch gone every school day. School attendance is very important to the academic growth of your child. Poor attendance can influence whether your child can read fluently, do simple math equations, and it may slow the development of social skills. If your child misses 2 days a month, it is almost as if they missed a month of school in one year. Please help us with your child's education.
"A Goal is a Dream with a Deadline."
Below are some pictures from Mary Lynch's Halloween Party.

News From the Classrooms

In October we learned letters A-H, we will be working on I, J, K, and L in November. We have also started to learn how to add and subtract with numbers 1-5, students are picking this up very quickly!
Please let Mrs. Ingram know anytime you would like to come and volunteer in our classroom.
Students have had a blast learning about trees! We have learned who takes care of trees, what harms trees, and why their leaves change colors in the fall. We were able to walk around our school and take pictures of the trees so we could study them.

First Grade
With the weather cooling down, please make sure that the kids are bringing their heavy coats and boots if needed.
Keep reading for BookIt!
Second Grade
In Science Second graders have been learning about materials and their properties. They will use what they have learned to construct a building using materials that are given to them.
In Reading students have been working on story structure and new phonic skills.
Please spend some time each night reading with your student at home for the BookIt Reading Program.
Third Grade
Thank-you to all the parents who stopped by during conferences, the turnout was great and the book fair was a hit as well.
Fourth Grade
Fourth graders have rediscovered a love of reading with quiet reading time in class every day. It is great to hear them say things like "I actually like this book". and "forgot they like to read". They are tracking their reading for the Book It program. Reading at the beginning of class seems to be preparing students for learning and orient the students toward academics.
Fourth graders are having a crazy cupcake challenge in which students are taking addition and subtraction timed tests. They can earn parts of a cupcake when they pass their tests. Then can earn plate/napkin, cupcake, frosting, sprinkles, mini M&M's, chocolate chips, gummy worms, Oreos, cherries, whipped cream and a soda. The week before Christmas break we will have a party in which they will get what they have earned. Please help your students review their facts so they can earn a sweet treat.
Fifth Grade
In reading they are working on non-fiction and in history students are learning about Native American Tribes.
They are working hard and getting excited for the holiday season. Please remember that if hey are bringing daily snacks, to make sure they are healthy.
Sixth Grade
Physical Education
With snow on the ground students will need to wear their boots to school, please remember to put their tennis shoes in their bags as well. Boots can make it challenging to run in P.E.
