Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade
March 22, 2019
Another Great Week!
We made it through the Third Grade iRead Test! I could tell that some of the students were feeling some anxiety with this being their first standardized test. We spent some time during Community Circle discussing strategies to help us relax when we feel anxious or stressed.
Report cards were sent via email today. I have said this before, but I spent countless hours assessing, grading, and making informed decisions about your child's progress as I work on report cards. Each score is given with the "typical" third grade as the benchmark. You may have noticed that some of your child's scores went down from last quarter. That is because after an assessment, the skill was not as secure as it may have been in Quarter 1 or 2. If that is the case with your child, we work on those skills either individually or in a small group to make sure he/she is proficient by the end of 3rd Grade. Overall, I was very proud of the improvements I noticed in all areas of third grade last quarter!
I was not at school on Friday, March 22. I am not surprised that I, finally, caught the bug that most students in 3rd grade has had. It's been a rough season for many different illnesses!
Congratulations to all the students that completed the March Madness Reading Challenge. This week we will enjoy lunch in the classroom and watching the 3rd Grade Teachers play basketball against the winners on Thursday right before we leave for Spring Break. Congratulations to Haley and her partner Aaron (from Mrs. Mahnesmith's class) for winning the challenge! What an accomplishment!
We will celebrate the arrival of Spring Break with a Beach Reading Celebration on Thursday, March 28. Your child is invited to bring a beach towel, drink, and snack.
That's all I have for now...
Enjoy your weekend!
