The Fellowship of the Ring
By: John Ronald Reuel Tolkien | Presented By: John Tomashek
Summary
Frodo inherits a ring from his uncle, only to learn that it was wanted badly by a dark lord.
Characterization
Frodo talks to Gandalf in a shaky voice, suggesting nervousness and maybe fear.
The elves spoke to him and said, "He is a jewel among hobbits!" (This suggests that he is kind and friendly.)
Farmer Maggot's dogs almost attack Frodo because they remember him trying to steal Their mushrooms. Frodo, like all Hobbits, LOVES mushrooms.
Theme
The theme is "Don't give up!" It is a very popular theme, but it works very well in this situation. The Fellowship almost gets eaten by wolves, drowned in a river, killed by orcs, and thrown off a bridge by a balrog, but they make it to Lothlòrien!
Figurative Language
"Dark yawned at the archway of the gates."- Personification
"It would be a glad morning"- Personification
