Man Almost Dies Of Bee Stings
On Sunday, March 10th at 1 p.m. Spencer Faltys hit his head extremely hard on the edge of his bed as he was preparing to take a nap. He got a severe concussion, and did not know what he was doing. As he was confused from the concussion, he really wanted to eat some honey. A bee hive was hanging outside his window on a large willow tree. He went outside and grabbed the whole hive right off the tree. Faltys got seven bee stings as far as we can tell. He is greatly allergic to bees, and is in severe condition at the Puppomania Regional Hospital in Puppo, Washington. Faltys will be released in two weeks.
"Goal!" Screamed the announcer as the soccer sailed to the back of the net.
Did you know that in the 1900’s, soccer balls were made from
Irish prisoner’s inflated stomach tissue? The first soccer goals were just turned over wicker baskets. Also, there are 32 panels on a traditional soccer ball; one for each country in Europe. There are two hundred thirty-four professional men’s soccer teams. These are just some facts of many about soccer.
Nobody really knows who invented soccer because there were many earlier versions of it. China had a game very close to what soccer is today called Cuju. In the 1938 World Cup semifinals, Giuseppe Meazza’s shorts fell down while he was taking a penalty shot! But, he still managed to make the goal. Brazil holds the World Record for winning the most World Cup games; they have won five. The first professional black soccer player was Arthur Wharton who was from Accra, Ghana. He was a goalkeeper for Darlington.
The United States has the most official soccer players than any other country; eighteen million! Canada and the U.S. are the only countries to call soccer soccer. All of the other countries call it football. In Mississippi, soccer was illegal to play until 1991. The U.S. men’s team has never won the World Cup. The closest they have gotten to winning was third place. The U.S. women’s team has won the World Cup three times; in 2015, 1999, and 1991.
All in all, I think soccer is fun to learn about and has some pretty cool facts. Anyone can play soccer, and if you want to you should definitely try it! To learn more go to these websites:
