Attendance Line!

If your child is absent from school, for any reason, please make sure to call the Beck Attendance Line at 586-797-3999. That way we can confirm your child is not expected at school. Sometimes parents let teachers know, but that information needs to be at the office as well.

Happy Friday, October 21!

Hello Beck Families,

I'm sure you've noticed the lack of smore newsletters the last few weeks. My apologies! It seems that I caught whatever virus was floating around (tested - NOT Covid!), and it turned into pneumonia. So I've been out of school for almost 2 weeks. And I missed EVERYONE very much! I'm so glad to be back this week!

This week I'm playing catch up, however! I'll try and get information out to you at the beginning of next week regarding Parent Teacher Conferences. Those are scheduled for Nov. 7, 9 and 10. We are using SchoolSoft again this year to schedule those conference times. Conferences can be scheduled in-person and virtually. I will send out a separate SMORE on Monday with exact directions on how to register for SchoolSoft and days and times available to meet with your child's teacher.

This week we also awarded classrooms who hit their goal in the fund raiser with a snow cone! A big thank you to our entire community for their generous support of our school with this year's BFV fund raiser! Over $22,000! Thank you for your generous support of our school.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!

Costumes Must Be School Appropriate

Parents please make sure your child's Halloween costume is appropriate for school. No bloody or grotesque costumes that could scare our younger students will be allowed in our parade.

Parent viewing of the parade will be in the back courtyard area (our playpad). You don't need to sign in at the office, just go ahead and walk back to the playground area. We will be starting the parade at 10:30, and students may be signed out with your child's teacher immediately afterward. Cross your fingers for good weather. The Meal Magic Family Portal provides a convenient, one-stop place to check your child's meal purchases, make deposits, order food, and apply for benefits. You will need your child's ID number to set up the account. If you don't see it on PowerSchool, please call or email the Beck office and we can provide that to you!

UCS Elementary Handbook

Parents will want to check out and be familiar with the UCS Elementary Handbook. It outlines the district curriculum areas, technology use and guidelines, expectations for student conduct, disciplinary procedures and attendance policies. It is also a great resource for parents and may answer many questions that you may have! Click on the red button above to open the handbook from the UCS website!

One of the most popular questions involves cell phones for students. Elementary students are asked not to bring cell phones to school. They are not needed, and use of other technology is provided to students as needed for school work while at school. Due to circumstances at home, however, with family schedules, it may be necessary for a student to need to bring their phone to school. IF a parent would like their child to carry their cell phone to school please follow these two guidelines:

  1. A note from parent requesting student bring their phone (so we know you approved), and
  2. Student parks phone in teacher's cupboard, or our office 'cell phone parking lot'
