STUDENTS REPLY TO LOCKER SURVEY
Students were recently given a survey in regard to lockers. With a high response rate and over half of our students expressing a desire for a school academic locker, we will begin to create a plan for a student to request a locker. We will finalize plans for locker distribution and communicate those with interested students and parents in the near future.
Please be aware, a combination lock must be brought to school for a student to receive a locker. Therefore, please make arrangements to purchase and practice the combination of the lock if you want a locker.

8TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL
The 8th grade volleyball A team faced off against Euless Wednesday night in an epic and exciting match. Broncos came out showing no mercy with amazing serves from Macey Spencer, Emily Ventrca, and Presley Rivers. Great hits from Hannah Due, Gracie Schwartz, Emily Ventrca, Avery Burgan, and Katrina Spencer kept Euless from getting in the first set. Euless fought hard in the second set and came out with the win taking the Broncos to a third set for the district win! Macy Spicer and Alina Vogt put nothing but heat on their serves not allowing Euless to return the ball. Great defense from Tagan Henley, Lily Wells, and Myla Argo is what helped win the third set and clench the district win!
The 8th grade volleyball B team also took on Euless. They fought hard the first set but came up short. Going into the second set the Broncos were ready to get the W and push for a third set. Great serves from Natalie Luna, Regan Hanacik, and Divine Masoka clenched the second set and head to the 3rd set. The Broncos fought hard but came up short.
The 8th grade volleyball teams have their tournament Friday and Saturday at North Richland Middle school. Come out and support your Broncos.
7TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL
Congratulations to the 7th grade volleyball Team 1 for defeating Euless Wednesday night in two convincing straight sets.
In the first set the team came out with outstanding service pressure that Euless could not handle. Leading the service attack was Kenslee Turner, Natalie Roach and Olivia Delgado. The Broncos dominated the set winning 25-4. In the 2nd set MuRae Horn and Reagan Ingram led the team to a 25-18 victory. Way to go Lady broncos volleyball!
The 7th grade B team had an exciting game last night at Euless, taking the Stallions into 3 sets to decide the winner.
In set 1, our service pressure was too much for Euless, racking up 8 aces by 5 different servers including Darina Grantcharova, Kaylee Rinn, Kaelin Vigil, Serenity Williams, and Adalyn McCollum. Our defense played a huge role in this win, as Mia Williams, Madeline Dean, and Brooklyn Williams were vacuuming up every ball Euless sent our way in the backcourt.
In set 2 Euless came out swinging early but we kept fighting and clawed our way back in it with amazing serves under pressure by Harlie Higgs and Isabella Williams to put us up 19-17. Jenna Fuchs, S Williams and Abigail Eschbacher had some timely plays on the net, handling anything hanging in the net. Our libero, Ridgely Keith, and the rest of our backcourt Williams, and Mallory Deweese made some great saves and almost pulled out several points, but we fell short 19-25.
In the final set everyone had clutch moments. The energy from our bench gave us the life we needed to put Euless away for good. It was a fight the whole way, going point for point with each other until we were down 12-19 with the game on the line. Vigil came in clutch with a diving save to stop a run by Euless and Grantcharova served up 5 in a row that couldn’t be handled to put us up 14-13. Euless served it out of bounds and our record improved to 5-1 with 3 games left in the regular season.
Our girls have a tournament HERE at BJH this weekend, with games tomorrow starting at 4:30 and 6:45, and then Saturday morning. We’d love to see you in the stands! GREAT JOB girls!

BJH GRADING POLICIES
Late Work Policy
It is the philosophy of Bedford Junior High School that allowing a student to not complete all
assignments (and thus receiving a zero on the assignment) is unacceptable. In an effort to ensure that zeroes are kept to a minimum, the following policies will apply to all grades and subjects.
1. If a class assignment or homework assignment is not turned in at the designated time (and therefore late), the student may turn the assignment in to the teacher by 8:20 a.m. the next day past the due date. (For example, if a homework assignment is assigned on a Monday and due on Tuesday during the class time, it will be accepted until 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday.) However, work turned in during this time frame will receive a 30% deduction below the grade earned on the assignment. (For example, a late homework assignment turned in on a Wednesday in the above scenario that was 100% correct would earn a 70% in the teacher gradebook. A late homework assignment turned in on a Wednesday that was 90% correct would earn a 63% in the gradebook since 30% of 90 is 27.)
2. Class assignments or homework assignments not turned in during the above time frames may still be completed in Late Work Lunch Detention (LWLD). The teacher will submit the student’s name on a Google document. Lunch detention is served on the stage in the cafeteria. There is a maximum of 2 days to complete the assignment.
3. Students are responsible for notifying the teacher once work is completed. Work submitted during this time frame will receive a maximum grade of 50. If the work is not completed during this time, students may receive a zero and a referral may be written.
Gradebook Codes
- 0 for students that cannot make up assignment (i.e. cheating, did not turn in the work, or earned a zero on the assignment)
- 1 for students that work is incomplete, potentially turn into a zero or a 50
- X for students that are exempt from assignment
- Z for students that were absent and can get full credit
