The last digital learning day of the 21-22 school year is Tuesday!

Tuesday, March 22, 2022, is a scheduled Digital Learning Day for all students. It will be an asynchronous learning day with ALL students learning from home. Students will access lessons in eCLASS but do not have virtual class time with their teachers. To ensure that students have a nutritious breakfast and lunch to fuel their learning, our bus drivers will be on the road and at every bus stop to deliver meals prepared by School Nutrition Program staff. Families should expect buses to run their routes from approximately 10:45 a.m. to noon, beginning at the first stops on the route. Like meals served at school, these delivered meals are provided at no cost to the student under a federal waiver.

Hull Middle School Fiddlers

It was a festive arrival for our students on St. Patrick's Day! The Hull Middle School fiddlers performed with some festive Irish tunes as students walked through the doors. Just as our students' facial expressions showed adoration and excitement, I truly was in awe of the talent. It was so good to see so many of our past students in the group. I know that many of our 5th grade students will be looking to join the orchestra when they go on to 6th grade next year.

Mask Guidance

On Friday, February 25, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its guidance and the prevention steps that should be taken based on the spread of COVID-19 in communities. Click here for the CDC guidance and the prevention steps. As part of the changes announced, the CDC is dropping its recommendation for universal school masking and instead will recommend masking only in communities at a high level of risk. According to the CDC, Gwinnett County is currently in a “Low” level of community spread. At this level, individuals are encouraged to stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and to get tested if they have symptoms. In light of this updated guidance and Gwinnett County’s designation in the “Low” level of community spread, Gwinnett County Public Schools will transition from requiring masks to strongly recommending the use of masks in its facilities. In the coming days, school district leaders will be reviewing and updating quarantine and isolation procedures to account for these changes.

Visitors to Our School

As most of you know, we have updated guidance on mitigation processes for GCPS. Please review the following very carefully.

  • Masks are no longer required but recommended.
  • Students are not required to wear masks on the school bus.
  • All classes began eating lunch in the cafeteria on March 1.

Volunteers:

Parents who wish to volunteer should work with teachers to schedule times. The teacher will provide the office with times so that you are expected. Once again, volunteers must be scheduled by the teacher in advance.

Lunch Visitors:

Here are some reminders for lunch visitors:

  • You must show your ID at the front office and wear a visitor sticker for the duration of your visit.
  • Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your child's scheduled lunch period and wait for your child's class at the cafeteria door.
  • You must eat with your child at the separate parent tables or the blue picnic tables outside in the back of the cafeteria.
  • Please do not ask your child's friends to join you at the parent table.
  • Please do not video or take pictures of students in the cafeteria.
  • Please do not bring fast food or soda into the cafeteria.
  • When lunch is over, please do not follow your child to class or out onto the playground. Return to the lobby for check out.
  • Please do not try to have a parent conference with a teacher during lunch. Enjoy the time with your child.
  • Also, please do not bring snacks for students in the class. This includes birthday snacks. If you wish to purchase ice cream for the class on your child's birthday, money needs to be sent in the morning by 9:15 am.

Full Adult Lunch $3.75

Main Item only $3.00

All Sides .40

Adults purchasing lunch should bring exact change. Credit and Debit Cards are not accepted.

We look forward to once again seeing our parents in the building.

Birthday Celebration Policy

Parents,

Just a reminder of our Birthday Celebration Policy. This can be found in our Student/Parent Handbook as well.

Birthday Celebrations

Because of allergies, students wishing to have a treat for their class should use the Ice Cream plan. This plan provides ice cream for every student in the class for $1 per student. Birthday parties are not allowed at school. Balloons, flowers, etc. cannot be delivered to children at school or taken home on the bus. Party invitations may not be distributed at school.

If you will ask the teacher how many students are in the classroom, you can send in money and let the teacher know which day that week you would like to purchase ice cream for the entire class in honor of your student's birthday. The students all get to choose which ice cream they would like and they receive it at lunch that day. Thank you for your understanding.

Afternoon Transportation

All transportation changes must be made in writing. Whenever you need to make a change to your child's afternoon transportation plan, please complete an Afternoon Transportation Change Form in the front office no later than 12:00 PM the day of the change. We will utilize this form to create the appropriate afternoon transportation pass. Please remember the GCPS Bus Rule: no passes will be issued for play dates, birthdays, weekend sleepovers, etc. For security reasons, we DO NOT accept transportation changes through phone calls or emails.

Student Check Out

Anyone checking out a child must present photo identification and be listed in our system as someone able to have access to the student. If you need to make changes to your list of approved emergency contacts, you may make changes on the Parent Portal or stop by the office to update this information. As a reminder, students may NOT be checked out after 3:00 PM. For assistance in updating contact information on the Parent Portal, please visit https://www.gcpsk12.org/Page/11430.
