Prizes!!!
The first class in each grade level to have all books turned in will get a homemade treat from me. All classes in each grade level who return their books on time will receive a certificate to hang on their classroom door.
5th grade teachers - this special prize is for you. I issued your students a challenge back in August. Last year I had only 3 5th graders who had not returned their library materials by the last day of school (lowest number ever). I promised that if all 5th graders return their materials on time, I will color my hair purple for the last week of school.
Thank you for your help in making sure all student library books are back the week of May 21-25.
Uncle Slam's Reading Program
The Potomac Nationals are teaming up with Manassas Park ES (and other local schools) to help promote reading through Uncle Slam’s Reading Program!
How the Program Works
On Thursday, April 26th, students had an assembly with Uncle Slam and some staff from the Potomac Nationals. Uncle Slam wants students to read four books that are appropriate for their reading level. For students in grades 3-5, a Google Form will be uploaded onto Canvas for each grade. Once it is completed and submitted, students will receive their bookmark. After receiving the bookmark, bring the it to the Potomac Nationals Ticket Office and receive TWO FREE grandstand tickets to one of the four designated reading program games. The stadium’s address is 7 County Complex Ct., Woodbridge, VA 22192.
Game Dates for Manassas Park
Manassas Park ES has selected Sunday, May 27 at 1:05 as their game date. It will be a Dr. Seuss Theme. Other promotions for May 27th include a pre-game parade to celebrate their commitment to reading, post-game kids run the bases, player autograph session and catch on the field and post-game fireworks.
If you can’t attend the May 27th game, you may also use your bookmark at one of the following games:
Sunday, May 6th at 1:05 —Superhero Theme
Friday, June 15th at 7:05 pm –Jurassic Park Theme
More details are available are available on the Potomac Nationals website. Please contact Mrs. Hayden if you have any questions.
