Summer Has Arrived
It is hard to believe that we are in the final days of the 2018-2019 school year. We are getting ready to send a wonderful group of second grade students to Clear Creek Intermediate. We are really going to miss this great group of kids, but we will continue to support them as they move up.
Our first grade students will now move into the role of being leaders for our building as they move up to second grade. With that responsibility, they will raise and lower the flags for our building each day, weather permitting. They will also be role models for the younger students on the campus.
My how our kindergarten students have grown this year. Not only have they gotten taller, they have adapted to school and we are amazed at how well many of them are reading. While we hope for our students to be reading at a level “4” by the time they enter first grade, we have many reading on a level “20” and above. We are very excited for them as they leave the kindergarten wing and move over to first grade.
We cannot wait to get all of our new kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students here and registered. We had a good turnout at the “Kindergarten and Pre-K Round Up”, but feel there are many more out there that need to register. If you know of a student entering kindergarten or pre-k next year, tell them to come to the office before we leave for summer.
Make plans now to attend our end of year Awards Assembly on Thursday, May 23rd. We will have kindergarten awards at 10:00 a.m. First grade awards will begin at 9:15, and second grade awards will begin at 8:30 a.m. The ceremony will be held in the cafeteria and every student will receive an award. We are so proud of our students’ success this year and we want to celebrate how hard they have worked. We hope to see you here on May 23rd!
School will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, May 22nd and May 23rd. Thursday, May 23rd is the last day for our students.
Please watch the newspaper and/or the district website for registration for the 2019/2020 school year.
After spending the last 30 years in education, I have decided to retire at the end of this school year. I have many fond memories to take with me as I start a new journey and will now have time to fulfill some things on my "bucket list." Thank you so much for sharing your child/children with me the past six years at CTE. Chisholm Trail is a great school and I am so proud that we have been a Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase school for the past two years. We have a great staff who truly care about your kids!
Happy trails! I hope you have a wonderful summer.
