- We will continue writing our essays.
Reading:
- NO READING ASSESSMENT.
- We will be working on text features and graphics and discuss how the author uses these features to bring information to our attention. We will also be revisiting author's purpose.
- We will continue to work on summarizing using GIST and checking our comprehension by using Author’s Portrait.
- We will continue to practice our choral reading. This is a great way to help with fluency. We read a paragraph together out loud as a class at a pace that I set. The more we practice this, the faster we will get and the more fluent we will become.

- We will also be working on our fifth sign post from Notice and Note, Words of the Wiser.
- Your child should continue reading nightly for 20 minutes and then getting their reading log initialed.
Social Studies:
- The students will begin writing a letter and drafting a brochure to present their bid to the public to build the Stature of Liberty, The White House or Mount Rushmore. They will need to have graphics, a financial bid, complete with numbers showing what it will take for materials, labor, time, etc. They will also have to create a name for their business. Included in the brochure will be the history of the landmark they are choosing with the how and why it came to be.
A Message From Mr. Schrey
Dear Fourth/Fifth Grade Students and Parents,
Fourth & Fifth grade Seele students will be performing a musical program featuring music of the Beatles on Thursday, November 15th at 6:00 P.M. in the Seele cafeteria.
The program will include speaking parts. Only students that will definitely be able to attend the performance should choose these parts. Students may choose whether or not to have a speaking part. Please only select the speaking part option if you are definitely able to attend the evening performance. Students who would like one of these parts should check below and return to their classroom teacher as soon as possible. All slips should be turned in by Friday, October 26th.
Students should dress appropriately for the program. There are no specific costumes for this program, however all students are encouraged to wear Sixties-styled “hippie” clothe. All should follow the dress code of the school for the performance.
Please contact me at pschrey@nbisd.org or at (830) 627-6750 if you have any additional questions. Thank you in advance for contributing to your child’s musical experience. I look forward to seeing you in November!
Sincerely,
Paul Schrey

Name The Lane Winner!!
Seele held a contest seeking creative minds to name the different walk-ways/hallways, at or school. Hattie won for naming the area out by the gym, Deer Trot Meadow! Very appropriate!
Hattie will be featured on SETV, and her sign will be laminated and hung in the area that she named. Oh, and she got a lunch of her choice, from me!
We are super proud of you Hattie! Thank you for representing Seele and 5th grade in such a fabulous way!
