4th Grade Learning is an Adventure!
4th Grade Field Trips:
Don't forget to fill out and return the pink permission slip sent home last week. This is one permission slip for two awesome field trips! First, our 4th graders will see what their future might hold as we visit Collins Intermediate on April 4th. Our big Texas History field trip will be to the Sam Houston Memorial Museum In Huntsville, TX on April 12th. Students will need to have the pink permission slip filled out and turned in to attend these events!
4th Grade Needs:
Bottled Water
Smart Watches/Phones:
Technology is a wonderful thing most of the time. Currently we are having issues with some 4th graders using their smart watches and/or cell phones during school time. Our policy at SKR is that all smart watches be put in "School Mode" and all cell phones be turned off while students are at school. If students use their smart watches or phones for texting, looking at the internet, making calls, etc. they will be given a warning. If the behavior happens again, the smart watch or cell phone will be picked up by the teacher and taken to administration. Parents will need to come to school to pick up the device.
Similarly, parents should not text transportation changes to their student. All transportation changes should be directed to the front office of Sally K. Ride.
Thank you for your assistance with these matters!
Active Start/Breakfast:
During the second semester and now that kids have gotten very used to the routines and procedures of the school day, we allow 4th graders to participate daily in Active Start beginning at 7:30 through 7:45. However, if your child purchases breakfast from the cafeteria, we ask that breakfast be eaten during that time and BEFORE coming to class. We do our best to avoid messes and spills in the portables as we often work on the floor and call whole groups to the floor for lessons. We appreciate your help with this.
Ads for Grads:
Please see the link below for information on purchasing your child's AD FOR GRAD in this year's yearbook! This offer is exclusively for 4th graders only and it allows you to add a personal message and picture in the yearbook. This is a favorite for our 4th graders!
Also, please make sure that you've ordered a yearbook! The second page in the link has information on how to order a yearbook. Many times, people rely on the "extras", but there are a very limited number of extras to be sold (like 15 school-wide). Don't depend on this! Order your yearbook TODAY

There are two options for lunch signups to eat with your child. You can sign up to eat in the cafeteria with your child or outside in our gazebo/picnic table area. You will not be able to change locations after signup is complete. If you sign up to eat outside and it rains, you will be unable to move into the building due to limited seating. You may sign up for another day/time.
Each slot is available for two adults and the child you are eating lunch with..
Please see the schedule below for designated grade level lunch visitor’s days. Make sure that you sign up under the correct time slot for your child’s lunchtime. Each student may have a lunch visitor once every 3.5-week period. This ensures every parent has an opportunity to sign up. Remember to bring a valid id when you visit the building.
Please remember no under age children are allowed in the building.
