Upcoming Events!
Thursday, December 13 = Holiday Music Concert 7 PM
Following this year's music concert, there will be a Learning Expo in the small gymnasium. Your 9-12 grade students have been hard at work learning about the varied types of work involved in space exploration! After the concert, grab a holiday treat from the cafeteria and stroll through the Expo. The 9-12 grade students will be present with displays set up to show some of the projects they have created during this 9 weeks. Feel free to ask them questions. We thank you for helping our students take pride in their learning!
Friday, December 21 = End of 2nd Quarter
Science
The 9-12 graders have been learning about the motion, forces, and chemical reactions involved in space travel. Check out the rocket designs of the physical science class below! We launch these next week, and as the saying goes at NASA, "Failure is not an option!"

English
Grade 8 is starting a unit on argumentative writing. They have just finished a rough draft of an argument with the premise is that teachers should be graded by students-I might have gotten myself into hot water here:) Next they will be analyzing arguments, returning to their first argument to add in counterclaims, and finally, they will be writing argumentative papers on a topic of their choice. Needless to say, we are busy.
Grade 7 is just finishing up a unit on sentence structure. If you want to see them smile this weekend, ask them about compound complex sentences and how they aren't complex. They will of course love that and talk about grammar for hours...right? Next, is a novel unit. They will be reading one of my favorites, The Giver.

Social Studies
6th grade: We are working on map skills! The students are able to put their knowledge to use by working on their own treasure maps.
7th/8th : The kids are working on Asia for Global Studies. So the kids are also going to work on their presentation skills by putting together a Google Slide presentation and presenting on their country to their classmates. It is also giving them a fun opportunity to learn about other people's culture.
9th/10: The freshman and sophomores are working on putting together a 'travel to the midwest' video as part of their regions of the United States unit. Each of them has a different element that they are working on (culture, sayings, economics, politics, etc.). But they are coming together to create the video
