Hamilton East Public Library

Hamilton Southeastern Schools has an amazing partnership with the Hamilton East Public Library. It is HEPL who provides us with access to favorite resources such as Tumblebooks, PebbleGo, and World Book. Visit the homepage to our library online catalog for access: http://destiny.hse.k12.in.us

At this point in time we direct students to the public library's Downloadable Collection instead of investing in an eBook and Audiobook collection exclusive to Brooks School Elementary. If you haven't investigated, the variety and amount of titles is impressive! Downloading eBooks and Audiobooks requires a valid Hamilton East Public Library card so please consider sharing your card number and pin with your student, or better yet, please consider helping your student get his or her own library card!

Young Hoosier Book Award Program

Each summer I read all 20 Young Hoosier Book Award nominees for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Indiana students. In September/October I book talk each nominee to 4th classrooms and invite students to read at least 5 to be eligible to vote for the Young Hoosier Book Award winner in the Spring. Last year's winner was Wonder by R.J. Palacio.

It's a great list for families looking for what to read next!

YHBA is a program of the Association for Indiana School Library Educators.
