1. Get good grades
2. Take advanced science
3. Go to four-year college, majoring in science
4. Go to veterinary school for four years to earn a doctorate
5. Complete a one-year internship

7. Take additional courses to specialize (for example, in surgery, emergency care, dental care, etc.)
