Principal's Message
What I'm about to describe is a noun, a feeling, a thing. This "thing" goes by various names and descriptors. One way to name it is simply the school experience. Another way to name it is the overall feeling one gets out of the combination of the memories, experiences, learning, and friendships the school environment provides.
This thing we will now call the "school experience" is not subject to tests of achievement, grades or overall evaluations.
Let me provide an example: on a recent school day, I was standing outside the school campus as school was dismissed. One of the students came up to me and we chatted a bit--this is a student I have known since elementary school. This student stated she would be moving out of town over the summer. She added that she was "really gonna miss this school."
She was reflecting on the fact that, over a two year span, middle school students morph into young people who not only grow physically but also mature mentally. And along with that, a thing that is often not expressed verbally is the valuable school experience we all share.
Indeed, this school experience is part of us all--adults as well as students.
So don't hold back--share with others your feelings about the value you place on YOUR school experience. Soon, the 2021-2022 school year will be gone.
But the "thing" we can all hold onto is the experiences we've lived and the connections we have made.
Sincerely,
Mr Calderon
