ONE PURPOSE...YOUR PATHWAY...OUR PROMISE!
Dear Lewiston-Porter Primary Education Center Families,
It truly feels wonderful to have the school year underway. I am energized to have the opportunity to serve as the PEC Principal for my 13th year. As we begin the 2022-23 school year at the Primary Education Center, we are committed to our mission, One Purpose. Your Pathway. Our Promise. Our purpose is to ensure that when students leave Lewiston-Porter, they will be ready to face the world with confidence in themselves and what they can accomplish. While students are here, they will be challenged to grow along their pathway and discover their personal best because we promise to give them our best.
We are inviting our entire school community to join us in celebrating our new theme: Everyone Belongs. We have already begun to teach our students the 7 Habits of Happy Kids by Sean Covey through children's literature. Please ask your child about the habits and how they can use the habits to appreciate differences at home, school and in play.
We had an incredible turn out of over 80 families for our Volunteer Orientation at the PEC Parent Night. Our volunteer program will begin in October. We are excited to have parent volunteers in our school supporting our mission again.
We are looking forward to a special year at the PEC. It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other, and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth.
The week of October 3 - October 7 will be Spirit Week 2022-2023. Check out the schedule of the Spirit Week themed days in our calendar. Spirit week includes all students and all staff. Let’s have some fun; Get your LP Spirit on! GO LANCERS!!!

Respectfully yours,
Mrs. Tamara Larson
Principal, Primary Education Center
Spirit Week
October is National Physical Therapy Month
This year is the 30th National Physical Therapy Month. Participating components of the Physical Therapy profession began to celebrate Physical Therapy Week in the early 1980s. The week was initially observed in conjunction with APTA’s annual conference in June and was later moved to October. The week evolved and the first month was celebrated in October 1992.
Our district Physical Therapist is Amy Ferrari, PT, DPT.
After years of practicing in various settings Amy chose pediatrics as her specialty. She received her Doctorate in 2015, focusing on the correlation between Gross Motor Function and Academic Success. Amy sees students that have developmental disabilities / delays that may impact such things as their ability to keep pace with their peers during classroom as well as recreational time.
Did you know that poor posture can impact a student’s attention? Distractibility and difficulty sequencing motor commands, not only limits their physical participation but impacts learning and math skills? Poor ability to cross midline (reaching to the right with your left hand for example) impacts the ability to read?
Collaboration is nothing new to Amy and you will often see her joining in a Physical Education class to ensure carry over of that curriculum and or out on the playground to be certain her students are using the skills they practice with her.
Amy provides co treatments with her colleagues whenever the need arises, be it with Speech or Occupational Therapy across the district- they work together to promote student success!
Parent Night was a Huge Success. Thank you for all who came out.
Miss Mosier teaches about steady beat and rhythms!
They enjoyed every part of this lesson!
They sure had fun practicing.
The Dot is a story written by Peter H. Reynolds.
The Dot inspires and encourages others to "Make a mark and see where it takes you!"
His story has encouraged thousands of people to create dots as a symbol of how special, unique and different we all are in this world.
These dots were created by staff members at the PEC and also Mrs. VanEgmond's First graders! We hope you enjoy them and are inspired to make a mark on the world too! How can you make it a better place?
