Principal's Note
Dear Families,
The kindergarteners and I are still keeping our fingers crossed for snow. There is a magical feeling when everything is covered in soft fluffy snow. However, that can also mean changes to our school schedule. Information about school on snow days is included below.
The teachers and I have been discussing school celebrations, focusing on the the why and how we celebrate as a community. The next holiday we have traditionally celebrated in school is Valentine's Day. We discussed that romantic love is not applicable or developmentally appropriate for elementary school. However we do believe celebrating friendship on February 14th aligns with our mission and vision. Grade levels will be celebrating with different activities highlighting friendship. Some grades might ask for volunteers, snacks or donations depending on the activities they have planned. There are a few things to note: First, students can bring cards from home if they choose. If students bring cards for their friends they need to include their whole class. Second, we are asking all students not to bring candy or include candy with their cards. It will be an enjoyable day celebrating friendship and our community.
If you have any questions, please call or stop by. Office hours are 8:00-4:00, Monday-Friday.
Playground Construction
We have progress! The swing project is taking longer than expected. Here is a picture of the progress.
Makerspace request
Students in Makerspace are learning about circuits. Students are using conductive dough (Play Doh) and non-conductive dough during this exploration. Thanks to everyone who made conductive dough!
Now we need some insulating dough. If you enjoyed making conductive dough, or you missed out and want to get in on the fun, check out the recipe below. Please make insulting dough white so students know which dough is which.

Volunteering at Sexton Mountain
Volunteering information: https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/departments/communications-community-involvement/volunteer
To visit the building during student hours 8:15-3:05 you need to have a volunteer background check and be registered as a volunteer in Better Impact. I would encourage you to register now to prevent any delay before the special event. Once you register with Better Impact, if you log in once a year you will be set to volunteer for the duration of your child's school career.
