We had a terrific turnout for the Holly Days Parade! We had our largest group of Huskies in recent memory. THANK YOU to everyone that participated. Also, thank you to our staff members that represented Holly Academy at the Community Play Day and those of you that visited our station. We received lots of love from the community! It's great to be a Husky!

School Drills

Each public school in Michigan must conduct five fire, two tornado, and three lockdown/evacuation drills. We conducted a fire drill on the 14th and will have tornado and lockdown/evacuation drills in the future. Sometimes our youngest Huskies are anxious about these drills. Please speak to your child/ren about the importance of practice even though the likelihood of any of these events is extremely low. Thank you! Power of the Pack!

Volunteer/Visitor Parent Check-in

Volunteers/visitors in the school between the hours 8:05am-3:10pm must check in at our Raptor kiosk in the vestibule or in the office. If you have not registered for the Raptor system, please do so in the office. You will need your driver's license to register.

All new families will need to come into the office with their driver's licenses to register. Families with last names starting with A through M please come in on Tuesday, Sept. 20th, and N through Z on Wednesday, Sept. 21st.

Volunteer Training

Volunteer training will be held on Sept. 27th at 8:00am in the auditorium. This training is for new parents only or for parents who have not taken the training. All classroom volunteers or field trip chaperones must attend training once to be added to our volunteer database.

Another great week as a Husky! In our classrooms and buildings, lots of learning is occurring. I wanted to highlight a couple of areas:

PHS: Project Healthy School: Mr. Spooner is starting this program for our 5th-grade students and is hoping to expand this to more grade levels in the future. Please check out the link below for info. As we get this program going and add it to our PE curriculum expect more details.


Skyward training:

Is Tuesday, September 27th, 6:00-7:00 pm: Thank you Mrs. Price and Mrs. Craven for setting this up. Details and Zoom link will be in next week's corner.


M-Step: results were mailed home to 3rd-8th grade parents about a week ago. We scored very well again. Next week I will provide a chart showing how we compared to our local districts. A presentation of these results will be occurring at the Board of Directors meeting this month if you are interested in attending.

PSAT: 8th grade: Results are in and a chart will be provided next week showing how we did against our local school districts.

NWEA: testing is scheduled to begin on September 26th through October 14th. If you have questions about testing please contact me or Mrs. Craven.

Breakfast Club

HA has started a new tradition! "Breakfast Club" will be offered for our middle school students every Monday morning! A special thank you to all the teachers and parents who brought items to feed our hungry students on Monday!

Monday, September 26th - Breakfast sponsored by 6th-grade students and parents. Parents of 6th graders, we need you! You will receive an email via Skyward with a sign-up if you are interested in donating your time or items.

Monday, October 3rd - Breakfast sponsored by 7th-grade students and parents. Parents of 7th graders, we need you! You will receive an email via Skyward with a sign-up if you are interested in donating your time or items.

Monday, October 10th - Breakfast sponsored by 8th-grade students and parents. Parents of 8th graders, we need you! You will receive an email via Skyward with a sign-up if you are interested in donating your time or items.

Middle School Friday Fundays

Students get an opportunity to eat lunch together as a class or a school. This allows more communication between the students and gives them some time away from their studies to relax. The students are scheduled to eat either outside or in the main gym. Thank you to everyone who already signed up to help with supervision. More volunteers are always welcome. Here is the upcoming schedule:

Virtual Curriculum Night.

Monday, September 19th, is our Virtual Curriculum Night via Zoom. Teachers will present an overview of their curriculum during a 20 minute session. Husky Pantry

Thank you to all of the families that donated items last Friday to replenish our Husky Helps Pantry!! We would also like to thank Elizabeth Von Allmen for spending many hours this week cleaning, organizing the pantry, and getting it ready to open for our families.

If you are in need of any items in the pantry, please see the map in the newsletter and use the doorbell to access the pantry.

Healthy Huskies

To ensure that we are providing the healthiest environment for our Huskies, our expectation is that staff and families will use good judgment and stay home when they are sick. Should your child have a fever, our school protocol is that they may not return to school until they are fever free, without medication, for 24 hours. Should your Husky be exposed to a positive COVID case, we will follow the Oakland County Health Department’s guidelines.

HA will continue our daily cleaning protocols using products approved by the CDC to be effective against the COVID-19 virus.

Attached below are the most recent Oakland County Health Department COVID-19 guidelines as of March 1, 2022.

It’s great to be a Husky!


As a reminder, students will be marked as unexcused unless a parent calls the attendance line. When calling please include your child's name, grade, and reason for the absences. If your child is ill please include symptoms.

To reach the attendance line call 248-634-5554 and press 7.

Parking Lot

The safety of our Huskies is our number one priority. We have noticed that students are running between cars in the morning in the west parking lot. If you are dropping off your Husky to walk into the school, we request that you walk them from the car to the door. Also, in drop-off lanes, please do not release your child until the first space by the crosswalk. Please follow the yellow line and drop off your child before the crosswalk, not past it. Do not stop in or block the crosswalk.

HAEF Fall Event

Come join us for a fun fall event with HAEF on October 16th. All funds raised help us continue to provide grants to Holly Academy with more than $49,000 given directly to classrooms in the last 9 years!

Art Smart Program

Welcome to the 2022/23 Art Smart Program, which is sponsored by the Holly Academy PTO and run by parent volunteers. The program brings art into the classroom once per quarter. Each project focuses on an artist, art history, and a technique that allows the students to create a quality art piece. Please see the attached flyer for details

The Holly Academy PTO has been very active over the summer with the coordination of events and fundraisers for the 2022-23 school year. We also know that planning is key to success. Attached is a calendar that shows all the meetings, events, and fundraisers for the year. We look forward to a successful year! To learn more about the PTO, please join us at 8:00am on Wednesday, September 14th for our first meeting of the school year.
