Year 3 Trip to Archeon
Thursday 18 June
09:00 - 15.45pm
We are very excited about visiting the archaeological theme park at Archeon, Alphen aan den Rijn. This visit will support work on our Topic theme, the Romans.
During the visit, the children will be given a guided tour of a reconstructed Roman town. They will also have the opportunity to compare the Roman town with buildings from the prehistoric and medieval periods and take part in everyday Roman activities.
The coach will leave school shortly after 09:00 and will return at 15:45. This late return is to enable us to watch the Gladiator show at the end of the day.
Your child will require a snack and packed lunch for the day. This should be packed in a disposable bag and carried in a small backpack – they will be carrying this for the entire day. Please ensure that your child brings plenty to drink and suitable clothing, especially as the day is likely to be warm. Drinks should be in a resealable bottle. No glass bottles or fizzy drinks please!
The visit involves a lot of walking and is mostly outside, and as the weather forecast is for a hot day we have decided children will wear their school PE kit. The children need to wear their full PE kit, including jumpers and tracksuit bottoms to school. All children must also bring a RAINCOAT as it could rain. Please also send a sunhat and apply suncream if necessary.
The children will not be visiting the shop and therefore require no money on the day.
Four lucky parents will be required as Parent Helpers for this fun day. Class parents will be getting in touch to arrange this.
You are cordially invited to the Year 3 Roman Assembly
Wednesday 8 July
Year 3 will be performing their Roman Assembly for the parents and children of the school on this morning. The Assembly will be showing a mixture of all the different types of learning we have covered during our Roman topic. Hopefully we will educate, entertain and amaze you with our knowledge! All parents are welcome to join us for this assembly. No costumes will be needed from home. Everything will be provided by school.
Thursday 9 July
All day in school
The much anticipated Year 3 Roman Day will consist of many fun and educational Roman activities and games. The highlight of the day will be our Roman banquet lunch. For our special day we will require some Roman Parent helpers to help set up the banquet. Mr Pilling and I will liaise with class parents regarding helpers and food required.
