BNT@W - Who We Are and What We Offer
Belton New Tech High School @Waskow (BNT@W) is a school of choice in Belton ISD where students learn through projects. Project Based Learning (PBL) focuses on purposeful work, collaboration, and a real-world application of skills that often culminates in showcases for an authentic audience or collaboration with professionals in the community. Students still master the same state standards found at a traditional high school, but graduate with a rare set of skills that creates both a competitive edge for their career goals and a productive leader for our local community.
BNT@W is located in downtown Belton and features a unique campus experience that has a community college atmosphere and provides students with unique opportunities to partner with local businesses and city government.
BNT@W offers 4 Career Pathways: Audio/Visual Production, Digital Art and Animation, Drone, and Legal Studies.
Audio/Visual Production - explores the occupation and educational opportunities for audio and visual production in a variety of industries such TV broadcast, advertising, and video production. Using industry standard tools and software, students create films, podcasts, and visual special effects by practicing techniques and workflows commonly used by successful media companies and freelancers.
Digital Art and Animation - explores the occupations and education opportunities associated with designing or creating graphics to meet specific commercial or promotional needs, such as packaging, displays or logos. Additionally, it explores publishing multimedia content including visual and performing arts and design.
Drone Program- Belton New Tech High School @ Waskow has been awarded a new regional program of study by TEA. This approval paves the way for students to complete a four-year plan of study by taking (1) Robotics I; (2) Robotics II; (3) Introduction to Unmanned Aerial Vehicle; and (4) Scientific Research and Design. Additionally, the program explores unmanned aviation opportunities in the area of aerospace engineering and operations, avionics technicians, airline pilots, co-pilots, flight engineers, and real estate applications.
Legal Studies - Introduces students to the occupations and educational opportunities related to representing clients in criminal and civil litigation and other legal proceedings, as well as assisting lawyers and preparing legal documents. Additionally, students will examine the roles and responsibilities of police, courts, corrections, private security, and fire and emergency services.
BNT@W, believes in developing the whole child through a balanced education in academics and extracurricular activities. We offer Art, Theatre, Disc Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, UIL sports (Swimming, Golf, Tennis, and Cross Country), and PE classes that focus on outdoor adventures. In the 2023-2024 school year, we will add eSports.
Leveraging our world-class staff, culture, community engagement, and project-based approach, Belton New Tech @Waskow is a direct answer to the challenges that our students will face in their future of work and life, empowering them through an educational experience found at no other school in the state of Texas.
