IT’S HOMECOMING!
- Homecoming Parade- Friday, Oct. 19th from 1:35-2:10pm at CHS
- Varsity Football vs. Tucson- Friday, Oct. 19th @ 7:00pm on Austin Field- Homecoming Court introduced during halftime
- Homecoming Dance- Saturday, Oct. 20th from 8:00-11:00pm in the CHS Courtyard. Tickets on sale for $20 in the bookstore. Guest passes are available in the bookstore and front office and are due to Mrs. Templeton no later than Thursday, Oct. 18th at 2:30pm. Tickets will be sold at the door for $25 (CHS students only). All students must have an ID to enter the dance.
NATIONAL HISPANIC RECOGNITION PROGRAM
Congratulations to Kameron Dawson, Andres Gonzalez-Bonillas, Alexis Correa, Omar Vargas, and Kale McFadden for scoring in the top 2.5% among Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT test takers in our region and being accepted into the National Hispanic Recognition Program.
CCA YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL
Congratulations to Kayla King, CHS Freshman, for being named to the Chandler Center for the Arts Youth Advisory Council! As part of the council, Kayla will focus on Arts Appreciation, Community Service & Leadership Skills in order to become an advocate for the arts and a well-rounded community leader.
BAND WINS 1ST PLACE
The Wolf Pack Marching Band won 1st place for Division II at the Mountain Ridge AZMBA Festival as well as the ABODA Invitational at Williams Field High School. They won Special Caption Awards in General Effect, Music, Visual, and Percussion. Congratulations!

BARBERSHOP EXTRAVAGANZA
On Monday, September 24th, the CHS Choirs took the CCA main stage as part of the Barbershop “Go for the Gold” Extravaganza with the Scottsdale Chorus. It was a terrific concert that highlighted songs that all groups will take to competition.
FALL BAND CONCERT
Congratulations to the CHS Bands for their terrific performances during the Fall Band Concert on September 26th. It’s always fun to see Mr. Carlos Aguero, CHS Band Director, join in with the musicians. During this concert, Mr. De la Paz, Mr. Aguero’s former student and current clinician for Yamaha and D’Addario corporations, was a guest musician as well. It made for a very special concert!
CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS WEEK
September was Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and the CHS Student Council hosted Awareness Week the week before fall break. Thanks to everyone who participated by dressing in support, signing banners, writing letters, and more. Friday was Superhero Day with fun lunchtime activities and the Bat Mobile.
IB SHADOW DAYS
CORE VALUE HIGHLIGHT
CHS is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The aim of all IB programs is to develop internationally-minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.
IB learners are “Thinkers”: They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions.

SWIM FUNDRAISER
IB HARKINS FUNDRAISER
The IB students and IB booster group are selling Harkins 2019 movie cups and Popcorn Perks until October 25th. Harkins cups are $6.50 each and allow you to have $1.50 soda refills at all Harkins theaters in 2019. The Popcorn Perks is $30 and gets you a free medium popcorn each time you go to the movie (up to 36 times).
These make great gifts! Purchases can be made by contacting the IB Boosters at chandlerhighibbooster@gmail.com or through any IB student in grades 9-12. Orders and money must be collected by October 25th. The vouchers will be delivered the week of November 5th.

TAX CREDIT DONATION
Arizona law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per calendar year if filing status is Married, filing Joint Return; $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is Single or Head of Household; and, $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is Married filing separate return — for contributions that fund extracurricular activities in public schools. A tax credit is a full refund, not a deduction.
Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or the school district. To participate, follow the Tax Credit Donation link.

college presentations
All college visits will take place in the CHS College & Career Center, unless otherwise specified. Students should sign up outside of the College & Career Center to attend a presentation. They will receive a pass in class on the day of the presentation.

Just a reminder when you shop Chandler Fashion Center and the Boulevard Shops, you can submit your receipts to make CHS money for our Positive Referral Program!
It’s easy! You can submit your receipts online 24/7 at the school cents website. If you do not need your receipts returned, you can drop them in the CHS collection box located on the Upper Level bridge near Barnes & Noble, or you can bring them to Mrs. Claudio in the front office.
