60 Books Donated by Elementary Student Council

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! To the Elementary Student Council for their on-going support of the Heatly School Library. Their generous donations of books from the Book Fair funds has been critical in providing new, high interest books for all ages!

Distance Learning Has Taken Us Lots of Interesting Places!

Distance Learning Events 11/1-2/1

Nov 2 - Mrs. DellaRocca, Mrs. Pereira and Mrs. Kulzers classes enjoyed 'Goody Brown Thanksgiving Tales' from Austin TX

Nov 17 - 9th grade PE class learned from former NFL player and HoF recipient Rams' Jack Youngblood the type of 'character' it takes to be a professional athlete from Canton, OH

Nov 19 - 4th, 5th and 6th grade learned all about "Scientists in Action: Mountains of Bones" presented by the Denver Museum of Nature and Science in CO

Nov 20 - Mrs. Ford's 3rd grade shared their Naked Turkey project with students in Granville Elementary in Granville, OH

Dec 14 - PreK got to listen to 'Hannukah Tales' told to them from Austin, TX

Dec 16 - Mrs. Lawlor's 2nd grade participated in 'Santa's Suit' with another 2nd grade class in Columbia, SC

Dec 17 - 4th graders connected with another class in Syracuse, NY to trade their 'Trees About Me' literature connection

After reading "Christmas Tree" by Florence and Wendell Minor, the students in Mrs. Littlejohn's class created their own 'tree of me' and shared it with students in Syracuse NY on 12/17.

Lots Going on in the Library

In addition to the 7 Distance Learning Opportunities that a large number of grades were able to participate in, the library also hosted:

3 days of a Scholastic Book Fair

3 days of Santa's Workshop

and a Disability Awareness Presentation for PreK & K students

DMV Permit Tests are a "HIT"

13 Students have taken and passed their initial DMV Permit Tests!

All taken in the library FREE of charge! No appointment and trip to the DMV needed!

Convenience - just one of the many things your Heatly Library offers to you!


There are also study guides in English and Spanish for passenger cars, motorcycles, and commercial driving for students or staff members to take.


The community of Green Island has been informed of this program and any citizen who needs to take their DMV Permit Test may now do so at Heatly!
