ASSESSMENT INFORMATION - ACT ASPIRE & THE FORWARD EXAM
The window for the Forward Exam for Grades 3-8 and 10 is now open and the window for ACT Aspire Testing for Grades 9-10 is fast approaching. We have been busy in the office securing sites for this mandatory state testing. You should have received an email from the office and a letter in the mail with your specific child's information.
We do our best to assign families to the site nearest to their homes, but if you notice that you have been wrongly assigned, please contact your SLA immediately. Our plan is to test all children during the overlap of time when both testing windows are open, which will limit the amount of time that families need to travel for testing.
Like we did last year, we have scheduled just one day for testing. This is a long day for our students in Grades 4, 8, 9 and 10. However, if a student needs additional time to complete testing, we will return for a second day to allow them the necessary time to finish.
Please remember that when you registered your children to attend WVL this year, you agreed to bring your children to testing. When your children attend testing, they may be able to qualify for a free homework pass to use for any work they may have been assigned or have due the day they are gone to testing. In addition, if your children do not attend the mandatory state testing, your family will forfeit the ISP reimbursement that is typically sent to families over the summer.
Below is the timeline for Spring Testing, 2018:
- April 10 - Testing in Waukesha
- April 12 - Testing in Racine
- April 16 - Testing in Whitewater
- April 17 - Testing in Fredonia
- April 17 - Testing in West Salem
- April 18 - Testing in Portage
- April 18 - Testing in Menasha
- April 24 - Testing in Tomahawk
- April 25 - Testing in Chippewa Falls
- April 27 - Testing in Green Bay
Alumni Spotlight
Tiffany is now into her 2nd semester at Fox Valley Tech in Appleton, and recently joined the PAS team. This stands for Post Secondary Agriculture Student Organization. This past weekend they competed at the State Level against many other colleges in Wisconsin Dells, and she took first place in each of her two individual contests, Career Planning for Ruminant Animal Systems and Employment Interview for Feeds and Animal Health, and her Team Event also took first place in Team Dairy Specialist. They now move on to represent Wisconsin at the National level in Louisville, KY in March.
I am so excited for her, and I think this is a great credit to WVL as a school as well! Thank you to all of the staff that have helped her develop into a confident young lady. A special thanks to any of her teachers in the English area that would have assisted her in developing speaking skills, writing skills, and speech delivery. Her two individual awards were solely based on resume writing, and "mock" interviews.
A Proud Mom and Family of WVL,
Connie Bestul
PLANS FOR 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR
WVL is already starting to plan for next school year! As a school we are starting to look at enrollment and make plans for classes, staffing and opportunities for WVL.
If you have not done so already, please complete this short survey letting us know your intentions for next year.
OPEN ENROLLMENT
The open enrollment period is now open! Open Enrollment opened Monday, February 5th and runs through 4:00pm on Friday, April 30th, 2018. Open enrollment is a time that families, in the state of WI, can enroll out of their resident district, and into a district of their choosing. This is also the time of year that we, as a school, are starting to look at enrollment for next year and make plans for classes, staffing and opportunities for the WVL community.
If you are planning on staying with WVL, you do NOT need to fill out open enrollment paperwork. You are good to go- and there is nothing more to do but let us know you are staying with us (by filling out this form).
If you have a child that will be new to WVL, you DO need to fill out open enrollment paperwork for them.
