Principal's Thoughts

Dear Page Hilltop Families:

Each weekend we send out a new edition of the SMORES newsletter. We include news and photos of all that is going on at Page Hilltop, as well as what will be coming up soon. Our goal is simply to keep all of our families informed and involved in the Page Hilltop School community. We hope that you enjoy reading the SMORES as much as we enjoy putting them together.

We also hope that parents are reading the SMORES with their children so that, together, you can talk about school events, look at the photos included, and learn about your child's interests.

Special SMORES project for this week: After you have read through this week's edition of SMORES, please write a simple note describing your favorite part about the SMORES for this week. Parents and children should then sign the note and send it to Mr. Deppe.

All students who bring in a note will receive a special prize along with 3 "Grand Prize Winners" (chosen at random).

Prize winners will be chosen on Friday.

Thanks, as always, for sharing your children with us!

Fred Deppe, Principal

Matt Lutinski, Assistant Principal

DARE CEREMONY

This past Friday was a special day for one of Ayer Police Department's finest - Jennifer Bigelow. As School Resource Officer Jen Bigelow, she hosted our annual DARE graduation ceremony for all of our fifth graders.

That same afternoon ASRSD leaders and staff got together to congratulate Jen on her recent promotion to Deputy Chief of the Ayer Police Department.

"Officer" Bigelow has been our SRO for nearly 9 years and is a valued member of our school community. We look forward to future collaborations with our new Deputy Chief.

CONGRATULATIONS, Deputy Chief Bigelow!

Big picture

RESTORATIVE CIRCLE

Mrs. Dayna Kendall was a special guest visitor at our recent meeting of the Panther Power student leadership group. Mrs. Kendall led a restorative circle discussion on how to be a positive leader and respectful school community member.

ARABIC PRESENTER

Our 3rd grade students enjoyed a presentation of Arabic music, language, clothing & culture with Kareem Nagi. It was a wonderful educational experience for all of our students.

GALLERY of GRATITUDE

Our Gallery of Gratitude, created by art teacher Heidi Cowley, continues to grow. Students are welcome to take a strip of paper and write a statement that tells us who / what they are "thankful" for. We encourage all of our parents and families to join in this SEL project. As a family, discuss things that you are all grateful/thankful for. Write them on a piece of paper and send it to school with your child(ren). They will then be able to copy your idea onto a paper strip and add it to our mural.

LITTLE BEE BOOKSHOP

If you have not had a chance to visit the Little Bee Bookshop at 40 Main Street, you should really consider stopping by. Owner Deb Rivera is an avid lover of literature and has become a good friend of the Page Hilltop School community.

As you walk into her downtown shop, you will be amazed at the collection of books and other pieces of art that lies within. Deb is always running various literacy-based special events and is always happy to chat about books of all genres.

Deb will be visiting our school this month as a special guest reader.

ASRHS PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Thanks to the ASRHS Student Council, many of our students & families enjoyed a delicious pancake breakfast compliments of the student council. After enjoying their yummy breakfast, students were able to take part in some arts and craft activities.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

Please take time this week to recognize & appreciate all of our amazing, outstanding, hard-working, passionate, inspirational Page Hilltop faculty & staff. Please consider sending them a note, email, and/or card to let them know how much you appreciate all that they do, each and every day, on behalf of our students & families!
