Principal Points- May

How is it already May? It is going to be a very busy month. We begin SBA testing on April 29th (please check the schedule below), 5th grade camp, and the Talent Show. I have also included, in the "upcoming events" section, events happening in June. We are very excited to host our First Annual Festival of Cultures. A flyer came home this week. We would love to have as many families participate as possible. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful month!

Parents- do you have a minute to thank a staff member?

Expressing gratitude can fill your cup and our staff member's cup. Positive connections between home and school foster mutual respect; in turn creating a rich learning environment. If you're interested in sharing a quick "thank you" with someone who is having a positive impact on your student, please email me at: anielsen@nsd.org with subject line: Gratitude for Staff

Bus Lane- please do not use

When dropping students off or picking students up, please do not use the bus lane. Our bus lane is used early in the morning until late into the evening for middle school runs. Please only use the parking lot or the parent-pick-up lot in the north end of our parking lot. We truly appreciate your cooperation with this.

If you'd like to be a WATCH D.O.G.......

If you would like to be a WATCH D.O.G. for at least one day this school year, please email Mrs. Nielsen to sign up for a day: anielsen@nsd.org

Northshore Ready Start program

Our new Ready Start program is a blended multi-age, inclusive model, serving students, ages 3-5. We are currently enrolling at both locations (Sorenson and Cottage Lake Elementary) for the 19/20 school year. Classrooms are taught and supported by a general education teacher, a special education teacher, and a para professional. Inclusive classrooms create a dynamic learning environment for all students. The average class size is 16 students, with class make-up of 8 students with IEP’s, 5 students who pay tuition, and 3 students who are income eligible. Classrooms utilize The Creative Curriculum & Teaching Strategies GOLD Assessment Tool. The staff is committed to fostering student learning and cultivating friendships while creating a sense of community for our students. Utilizing developmentally appropriate teaching strategies to support a whole child approach to learning, within an inclusive environment, fosters high levels of student learning and social and emotional growth for all students.

For enrollment paperwork please visit our Northshore School District website @ https://www1.nsd.org/schools/programs-services/early-childhood/ready-start-tuition-program or contact Sorenson (425) 408 5570 for enrollment paperwork.

Would you like to volunteer?

We are always looking for volunteers to help in classrooms or around the school. Please contact your teacher or myself to let me know if you would like to help!
