Kirk Fenton News
17th May 2019
Dear Parents / Carers,
It is with great sadness this week that I need to inform you that the governors and I have taken the decision to close the nursery class from this September. As pressures on school budgets continue, with expenses rising and income dropping considerably, we can no longer sustain this part of our school. As a result of the continued house building locally, our numbers in the rest of the school continue to rise and therefore we have chosen to focus our resources on classes from Reception to Year 6, especially as we work so closely with Jigsaws next door already.
Whilst this will be a loss to our school community, it will allow us to focus on balancing our budget, and just as importantly, to raise standards across the school so that outcomes are more reflective of the the community in which we work. I hope you will understand why we have had to make this difficult decision.
On a happier note, our Year 2 and Year 6 pupils have shown amazing perseverance this week completing their SATs. I have been so proud of the way they have worked, their resilience and their camaraderie in supporting each other, and am looking forward to their results doing justice to their hard work later in the term when we get them. Well done, Year 6 and Year 2! I hope you have a carefree weekend to celebrate.

Accidents and Near Misses....
There have been accidents at the mini roundabout next to the school, and quite a lot of near misses as well as people walking directly across the middle of the mini roundabout, instead of using the crossing. Please be mindful of the traffic in Church Fenton, particularly around the school, and ensure you teach your children safe ways to cross the road. Any accidents and near misses should be reported to the police using telephone number 101.
Thank you
